I am thinking of making up a batch of titanium main shafts for my Axe CP on the CNC I just figured I would see if anyone else is interested while I am at it. If there is enough intrest then I will make a setup to make more of them otherwise I will just make a couple for me.

Let me know

I am not sure yet I am trying to get some figures on the meterial but I need to know how many I am going to make. I am hoping I can keep it as cheap as possible. The more I make the cheaper they should be. I will know more later this week as my material quotes come in.

Alex you may want to also post on this thread too. Some interest has already been expressed for mainshafts made from titanium, carbon, and high grade tempered aluminum.

I am still trying to get figures on the materials. I found a line on some carbon that is the right size for the tail boom too. I am thinking about getting some and trying to make one to see if it will work and if it does I would be able to supply them too.

Looks like they will cost about $15.00 each with 2.00 shipping (any quantity)

I am not happy with the price of the titanium I have found so far. I have been no quoted on the material by several suppliers(too small of an order)

if I can get more interest I can bring the piece price down but working in such small volume is limiting me big time on getting the material.

If anyone has a good sorce for ti material please let me know and I will try to get these made for us as cheap as possible.

Thanks

AC

That price isn't too bad considering the cost of titanium and like you said low quantity.

I would think there'd be alot of interest considering the mediocre machining and soft aluminum the OE piece is made from.

I just got done making a small batch of aluminum tail booms. I made them for my friend and I. I am looking into an order of carbon to do some testing with on my heli. if they work out on my heli I may offer the tail booms in aluminum and carbon too.

I could probly make some for the MX400 I just do not have one to get the dimensions from. Do you have a way to get me the dimensions?
I may try to include the MX400 in my part prjects.

What happened? Anything come of this?

I still want a titanium mainshaft!

I'm tired of bending the crappy aluminum "wet noodle" OE shafts.

I am with Heliko on this one, the stock main shaft is garbage. While your at it make me a titanium feathering spindle too cuz it sucks just as much. As much as my heli has been glitching lately I seem to need to change one about every flight. I think I have hit a stopping point in training with this heli kinda like a writers block. I have a few things going on that are keeping me from progressing. Having stronger metal parts would help. Every little blade strike, (scuff the grass on landing or something of that nature) seems to leave me wobbling due to some bent shaft.

I would probably get a couple of them depending on price.
