RoyR -> Suggest airplane for YS110 (6/26/2007 11:05:33 PM)

Due to circumstances I won't get into now, I have two YS 110s, one older version and one newer 110 S, neither fully broken in as both were run for the first time last month.
The only airplane either has been installed in was a Goldberg Edge 540. I think that would have been a good airplane for the 110.
Now a pause for my public service announcement. Within 2 minutes of the maiden flight the Goldberg Edge broke apart in flight from straight and level and about 2/3 throttle due to faulty hardware. Goldberg will not make good on it, so any airplane by Goldberg is out. Warning, replace all the kit hardware if you get a Goldberg Edge 540.

unpause; So I have two YS 110s and no airplane to put them in. I have been searching the internet and RC Universe for weeks to get ideas. I have found a lot of airplanes I would like to try, but most of the airplanes I like are either a bit too large or too small for the 110. So I am asking for you, the RCuniverse members for help.
What is your favorite airplane to fly with a YS110?
It would help if you have flown your suggested airplane with a YS110.
Hopefully you can verify some of the airplanes I have been looking at, or give me some new ideas.
After all, Two new YS110s sitting on a table is almost a sin.

Thanks
Roy

A Great Planes Venus II is a perfect match for the YS 1.10. I would think that the World Models Groovy 90 would match up very well, also.

MinnFlyer -> RE: Suggest airplane for YS110 (6/27/2007 1:45:42 PM)

Kit or ARF???

The Great Planes Skybolt KIT is ideal for a YS 110 - It would be almost overkill on the ARF (Which is about 2 pounds lighter)

RoyR,

I'm flying a World Models Extra 330S weighing 8.75 lbs. Flys like a dream with power to spare. You'll have a kick with this combo.

rclement -> RE: Suggest airplane for YS110 (6/29/2007 5:15:18 PM)

I've heard that the YS 110 does in the U Can Do 60 and the Sig Mayhem

RVator -> RE: Suggest airplane for YS110 (7/4/2007 1:21:43 PM)

Suitcase has been flying a Sig Mayhem with a 1.10 on it for about a year. Its a great combo with a 16x6. Its a good quality ARF with good construction and good hardware. It also has good flying traits , excelent slow speed almost no coupling in KE. He also has a 110 in a Jerry's Big Boy which is an 80 inch Ultra Stick type model. It flys it great.

do you think the 1.10 will work good with the seagull Yak 54?

MinnFlyer -> RE: Suggest airplane for YS110 (7/6/2007 1:12:20 PM)

I think it would be GREAT in that airplane

Gray Beard -> RE: Suggest airplane for YS110 (7/8/2007 3:34:44 AM)

Mine has been in A scratch built Krier Kraft, A 60 size Kaos and is now living in the Mid West 60 size super hots. I think it would be great in A Sky Bolt!!!!

angelsddy -> RE: Suggest airplane for YS110 (7/8/2007 7:22:17 PM)

I have a 110 in a shoestring and it is hot and fun to fly.

R.C. ROB -> RE: Suggest airplane for YS110 (7/12/2007 12:07:44 AM)

Captain DeadStick -> RE: Suggest airplane for YS110 (7/21/2007 9:17:37 PM)

World Models .40 size mustangs. Should keep you on your toes!

scalemaster90 -> RE: Suggest airplane for YS110 (7/21/2007 11:02:33 PM)

A friend of mine has the Skybolt ARF with a YS 1.10 in it. Awesome airplane.

jetflyrf86 -> RE: Suggest airplane for YS110 (7/21/2007 11:09:38 PM)

A Funtana 90 is awsome with the YS 110

d_bodary -> RE: Suggest airplane for YS110 (7/22/2007 2:18:51 AM)

Myself i would have to vote for the Venus II excellent combo.

But The Great Planes Skybolt would just look cool. Haven't seen anyone flying the Skybolt but i would have to agree awesome looking plane.

I have recently been looking at two Aeroworks planes. The 46-61 Edge 540 and the 90-120 Yak 54
Interestingly they have both flown well with the YS 110.
I reallly like the looks of the Aeroworks kits, pretty complete.
Would be nice if I could afford both.

duzall -> RE: Suggest airplane for YS110 (8/10/2007 11:22:48 AM)

I'd have to second the scratch built Krier Kraft (from RCM plans), I have one (with an OS 120) weighing about 7 lbs or so. It will accelerate vertically.

smullis -> RE: Suggest airplane for YS110 (12/17/2007 6:14:49 AM)

Go to Raidentech.com and look at there Plane called a LEO 110 ARF for $222.00 . It is a pattern plane and it looks real sharp. I would like to have one but I have other interests in different planes right now. While your there check out there inventory. You can find some good prices at there site.

I had one of my YS-110 on a world models midget mustang, flew great and landed very easy, also aero-works has a 90-120 size yac a QB Quick Build model, they have a whole line of QB models, i am going to get there extra 260 and use the DA-85 for power, there a grreat plane, the ail rudd and ele are all ready glued all holes are drilled and take bout 10 hours to finish, a great quality airplane, check out there line of quick build airplanes, also all of my airplanes have a hyde soft mount on them, after using one you will never build a plane without the soft mount that merle hyde builds, there is a write up on him at central hobbies.

I have the 60 sized yak 54 from seagull with a YS 110 and a 15x6 prop. I haven't flown it yet however. With some luck and good weather I will soon.

russm -> RE: Suggest airplane for YS110 (7/14/2008 11:28:03 PM)

Mr. Mugen -> RE: Suggest airplane for YS110 (7/26/2008 2:36:30 PM)

I have my YS110 in a seagull edge 540 and love it. Hovers at under 1/2 stick and can do anything you throw at it.

Gringo Flyer -> RE: Suggest airplane for YS110 (7/29/2008 1:28:24 PM)

Any 60-90 sized aircraft will have tremendous power with the YS110. So anything in that range will be agood fit.

What kind of plane are you looking for, scale, sport, 3D, warbird, ARF, kit?

There are tons of options. The YS 110 is a really popular engine for the OMP Fusion.
