Hello Bax, the BT24 EI just arived. I plan on using Amsoil right out of the box at about 80:1 then to 100:1. I read with amazement that this engines rcommended props are a wood performance prop of 16X10 or 18X8, or carbon of 18X8. can this little engine turn these props? I have the fuji 50 EI using Amsoil Saber 100:1 oil in it turing a 20X12 in a Top flight ARF Mustang and it realy goes. That is why I wanted the new 24. I have a US41 in one of your Super Chipmonks with a 18X8. That is why I was amazed that the 24 will turn a 18X8. I am installing the 24 in a 100" Grasshopper (green camo Cub). Have you tried these props?
Thanking you in advance for your time.

Here are the prop sizes we've recommended:

16x8 (APCQ1608), 16x10 (APCQ1610), or 16x10 carbon prop

An 18" prop would be too large.

Bill Baxter, Hi Bill. I had to use an electric starter to get it going with the Zinger-pro 16X10. I could only get about 7000 RPMs out of it. I have ran the engine for over an hour at different throttle settings. Using max RPM for only a minute or two at a time. I mostly ran it at mid throttle with the high speed needle a little rich. I then installed a Xoar 16X8 laminated wood prop on it to fly. I flew the plane for approx. 25 minuites all in one flight. I varied the throttle as I did while plane was on the ground. I did not tac it with the 16X8 today, but would say it picked up quite a lot of RPM. The engine ran flawlessly, and never gave a hint of quitting at idle. How long do you feel in running time before the engine fully breaks in?. Again I am running 87 pump gas and 100:1 Saber Amsoil at 80:1. The engine seems to be getting closer to hand starting. I am now seeing more compression and the engine has less friction when turning it over.
Thanks. Gary
