I need to make a comment on the wheels, they are simply a joke. The main wheels are too thin with no rubber for cushion, they are what I typically put on a 16 oz foamy. It is particularly strange given the rest of the quality of the kit. At first I thought I could at least use the tail wheel but it turns out to have too large a hole drilled in it for the wire.

Don't let these negative comments discourage you from getting this plane, the form, fit and construction is superb. It is just really strange that the wheels are throw aways.

Larry, none of us like the main wheels,, but they are light and work OK. The hard part is finding suitable axles thatwill work with the LG legs. The gear legs are rather narrow near the axles. Most aftermarket axles need such a large hole,, could comprimise the strength of the gear leg. Look around for wheels you like that will work with the stock 'axles'. The tailwheel is easily replaced with an aftermarket tailwheel assembly .

Tony & Larry,

What's up????? Wheels...wheels....wheels! Larry's not happy with the wheels? Who can blame him, but for me, I just had to change them from the
"yellow" color and happen to find some blue ones, as you can see. To me, the pseudo axles (actually a bolt) is what I would like to replace with a real axle. Yet, as Tony pointed out, that is an issue also. I guess that the bolt is OK, especially if the wheel pants are used. If anyone
has a suggestion, bring it on. Concerning the tail wheel, the pull/pull rudder system made the choice simple and I used the Hobby-Lobby tail wheel
assembly that is made just for pull/pull setups. I like this type because the structure of the rudder is not compromised by having to drill a hole or make a slot to accept a wire or screw from the tail wheel unit.

For main wheels I found some laying around, I think they are Dubro lite's, for axle I used a 1 1/4" 4-40 allen head with two non-slip nuts and one regular one. It looks like this, and provides a perfect offset for the pants.

Larry,

Great mod! Thank you for posting it and I just gotta tell you that I'm going to do exactly as you have. Till now, I have not used the wheel pants, but thanks to you, now I can use them.

Volkert,

I have used the little wheels, without the pants, on grass with no problems. Now, thanks to Larry, I'm going to do what he has suggested.
I also send best wishes to Andrew Jesky and hope that he RULES at the F3A World Championships. thank you for letting us know about it!

Tony,

Thank you for bringing the Castle Creations BEC issue to our attention. Great find!
Basically, the Castle BEC when used with the Spektrum AR6100 receiver, experienced a compatibility issue. The cure is to slightly change the normal manner of attachment of the BEC. Castle is aware of this problem and has addressed it on their web site; http://www.castlecreations.com/products/cc_bec.html

This thing is almost ready! What is the balance point (CG) for neutral inverted? Right now I am at 3 1/2 inches from the leading edge at the root. 3 3/4 would be the carbon spar.

BTW I could not get the castle link to recognise the CC BEC. (Latest beta software). Am waiting on a reply from CC.

Well, it looks as if the FJ version of the Fliton AJ Extra 300S has influenced the new AJ video. So now the new video of the FG AJ Extra
is titled; "BUNS OF STEEL"
I thought that we were supposed to concentrate on the flying characteristics of the AJ, right?????
