Crawf, get a tinny out!! Anyone - when an esc stops working will the elevators stop or not, or is it just the motor that won't run. I've put a new b/less Tower Pro on my 3D (brushed before) and the motor wont turn, it just twitches but the control functions still work. If it is the esc I'm putting an order in tomorrow and I'll stick a few on it. I tried 2 esc's with the same reaction, and I know the batteries are OK. Help!!

This neighbour of mine, Daniel, who wants the Slow Stick, says I can build it, explain it and even fly it on the maiden. Oh, if I must I must. Times are hard
Crawf you old one-handed sod, hope you're hand is feeling better. See ya later,

Was that for about 5 pairs of them? If so, yep, they were sent out a fair while ago.

Sorry guys, been so busy with building the electronics around here (the Lipo Normalisers at the moment). In fact, it's so busy that I've had to start selling the Normalisers without casing just so that I can find enough time for other things. Certainly is time that I started to get them built offshore.

Paul.

Just talked to Roj (finally) about the Multiplex thing generally....he said he can't get any MMs nor bits ....he also went on to say that he won't be stocking any of their models at all......sounded a little ominous so I left it there.
I like these multiplex planes for their toughness and rebuildability (if that's a word) ......shame if we can't get 'em anywhere.
Put that idea on hold Mongrel.....I haven't given up as Roj is only one of many suppliers .....but please Mongrel make sure you get something that has some supply of spares.

W/end Wx is looking good and now I'm looking at this three piece smashed Minimag wing and thinking someone is going to have to get creative

If I'm going to be using my Tower Pro brushless thats on its way in the post atm on my Electrafun I need a way to use a 6 inch pusher prop on a 3mm shaft. The standard 6 inch Electrafun props are 2.3mm. Do I drill them out oris there another way to do it? I haven't seen any adaptors that go in this direction and I haven't seen many 6 inch props listed for sale, not so sure on what pitch I'd need either?

prop adaptors dont go in a direction. just get a 3 mm adapter and a 6x4 prop and start from there just mount it on and if it spins in the wrong direction revers any two of the three wires.
regrads,
dave

Mongrel

The standard is usually bullet connectors between ESC and motor and Deans between ESC and battery...

why?

For a start, brushless motors have 3 leads and Deans have only 2 connectors... although you may only have brushed motors at the moment, it is a good idea to get into a routine with components to make swapping in and out less painful.

also... when you use the Deans between the batt and the ESC, make sure you use female Deans connector on the battery to prevent accidental shorting out across the connectors..

and don't they light up with a 20C LiPo .......you only make blues like that once.

I want everybody to touch a button for DI this evening and give him a little thought .....maybe put out that cigarette
He's been out scaring the CT Scan staff with his crazy readings and they've bunged him in the cardiac unit for the night to decide what to do with him.
Gerry will kill me for posting this stuff..and he won't thank us for jambing up the thread ...so please no need to comment....... just spare a thought for the lad tonight

DI has a post at the top of the page.....I'm pretty sure his missus (forgive me Bobbie ) would pass any pms along to him

CRAWF - I am going to use the deans on the ESC's in the brushed models - They all run the same esc and it saves me from buying an ESC for every plane!! Call me a stingie ****. I have not gone brushless yet, but I will keep that in mind!! Thanks.

MACHETTE- All the best for DI. I hope it all goes well mate. We have a good friend that was told she would not make Xmas - today they told her she is making a great recovery!

INFLEX - Sorry mate - 5 pairs... you were right - and they arrived today. Thanks!

Cheers
John

Machette

I've also been in touch with Gerry and Bobbie via email earlier today and was shocked to hear about his condition.

You won't find a kinder or more genuine person than Gerry... he and Bobbie will be pretty worried tonight so if, like me, you save prayers for only the really important times... say one for Gerry tonight.

Gerry, our thoughts are with you mate.... get well really soon!

Was depressed last night so I rang Lifeline.

Got a call centre in Pakistan.

Told them I was suicidal, they got all excited and asked if I could fly a plane I said 'sorta' and now I'm getting some free flight training courses apparently

Things are lookin' up

Only you Machette, only you!! Half of the world's pacemakers are made in China and are lipo powered. Shooot!!!
Upbeat always, flying first. - Took the Moth for a spin at the drunkards playground on top of my slope-flyng field. I was warned to stay clear of the pigeons. Crap!!! 10 points for them, 6 for dogs and 20 for dog-walker and dog!! Got the smaller TP motor in Moth now, I saw sense and I'm not too good at hovering it. It only pushed out 1200+Kv but it was straining to go and it did, straight up with no additional elevator. after 5 loops wind went gusty and plane shot off downwind, difficult to get it back. It was just hovering in the wind, making no head-way so tried to bring it down and yes, a slight "mishap" and clean broken wing (now fixed!!). A good day was had by Biggles (as kids call me).
PS: the drunks were watching the pigeons and told me to watch the female one circling overhead. It was about 100ft up and I asked how they could tell it was a female and they said "'cos its got a can't!!!" I did ask
Suggestion: To find out about our pal Digital if only one person is in contact with his family and then puts in a daily post here so we can all get the latest, might be a better, faster way. Cheers and Beers, big ears!

Hi guys! NO news is good news, right!
Order arrived from BRC Hobbies, yippeee. New 2S esc for Slow Stick and a 1000 2S lipo. But the best, a new motor and esc, a HiMax and a HiModel esc combo. Put the motor in my Beaver (yearh, I know! ) and the bloody thing will hover, and its supposed to be a slow flyer. There's almost as much power on 2S (not that much difference). This is one plane I'm looking forward to flying tomorrow.
Details of motor:- HiMax 2216 6T, 2200 Kv
Weight; 52g, Max efficiency 80%, Cont current 15A, Shaft 3mm - and bloody fast and powerful but tiny!!! (200W) and cheap £23 for both
6 planes ready for tomorrow, weather permitting.
Off topic Breakfast: Here in Scotland the traditional breakfast is either Porridge (uuurhh!) of the Full Scottish (egg, bacon, square sausage, beans, toast, black pudding, tatty scones, fried bread, tea or coffee
England almost same but without the tatty scones and black pudding.
Australia??? what? question from wifey. Byeeee

Hey Tam,

Good luck and let us know how you go.

Breakfast down under... hmmm.. Well the standard would be serial Wheat Bix or the like) or toast (boring)... but if you have just had a big night on the Ronny Goon and you so hungry you could bite the arse out of a low flying duck, you would cook up a good deal of bacon and eggs, grilled tomatoes, orange juice and a cup of coffee or tea. THEN - a hair of the dog!!

Cheers
John
