Actually Rowdy, not many still in the box..thinking now.... I have the Warthog,a GWS Tiger Moth 400,a Multiplex Microjet,a Multiplex Easyglider,a spare Multiplex Easystar(probably never use),a revolution shop Fox electric glider,2 spare Stryker fuses, one or two of those car/plane/boat things, and no doubt some others that I forgot.
The best thing to do I reckon is to have all the gear to put em together at once...particularly motors and ESC's,once the expensive bits are in they tend to sink or swim I find...heh.
Bleary.

Edit:Crawf did you use the tail skid on your MUS,or put on a tailwheel? The ground handling is not the best with the skids.

BLEARY ... YOU INSPIRE ME!
I thought I was bad .. until I found this forum .. and in particular you! Now I feel right at home ..Mind you ..i've only been at stuff for 1 year I suppose ...
Yep the thing is the expensive bits huh .. the receivers in particular 1 for each plane.. that's why i've tried to buy stuff from HK. Good and bad from there i've found ..
The Himax motor I bought on Crawf's recommendation is a really top motor .. but 3 times the price of anything i've bought from HK .. but it's the right size ... worth it just cause you KNOW it's right!
The receivers .. great .. but you can't find a bloody crystal to match (Corona)
Cheers
Rowdy

Bleary - went with the stock tail skid - not a problem with ground handling...

Thanks Crawf, she is good to go as soon as the wind goes away..Rowdy I am trying to only buy planes now that I know I will use...I went through a period of buying one a week whether I needed one or not!
I thought I had one of those Corona Rx's,it is in my MPXT,with a GWS crystal from memory..seems ok at the moment, although I am always on the lookout for cheap but good Rx's.I was going to go Spectrum, but the idea of buying 8 or so Rx's is too scary to deal with..I have run out of model memory on my Max 66,so need to either go the Spectrum,or maybe get a higher end JR.....every time I think about it I get cold feet....I hate programming radios, and I hate the thought of all those Rx's and my perfectly good Tx being obselete....time will tell I spose.
Bleary.

I was building a model fokker biplane deisel (which I never flew ) at boarding school when i was about 12 and along came a guy from Hearns hobbies to give us a demo of radio control ......the plane took off (think it was a Spit) and went straight up out of sight in a what seemed a split second ........I was in awe!!! just stood there dumb struck! .....55 now and I still remember it like yesterday.
that was also my last year of school but I've had a pretty varied life since them, mainly in the east coast cities.....I've moved around abit but have settled here in the sticks since 1980 and wouldn't be anywhere else now.....community is everything I think. Use to work in the steel industry but took it with me to the auto industry where I was basically black smithin'......that's where I got my nick name, machette.....chopping up red hot coils with my home made steel cleaver .....if you ever fitted any aftermarket powercoated red coils that didn't fit correctly to your car between about 1978 and 1992 in aus it was probably my fault .......but tell someone who cares as I'm retired now
I've had a go over the year trying to self teach myself to fly with some crumby boxy balsa trainers that I crashed consistently .....build them and then immediately crashing does get you down after a while.
Then I saw these electric planes come along last year........I'm still getting with the jargon....like coming to grips with this C rating (thanks guys I have it now) .....the discussions about motors and my realisation that BL running on the same rules as alternators although using phase locking for speed control has cleared it up enough for me.......so many things I've learnt just browsing this stuff .........was it Bleary with his 'demented moscuito' noise from the proximity of the prop and the wings rear edge .......just stuff I don't actually often hear here in Arnold
This Magister is pretty close to a metaphor for how I'd like to see the rest of my life ......slow and steady with easy landings
I do still like my ElectraFun no matter how much **** you hang on it .......I drive a HZJ75 everyday too......but I do have an XA 351 coupe locked up in the shed ........and I'm thinking to satisfy the Jeckle in me a Stryker was the go for a fast plane.......but later.
Another thing that I will take the opportunity to say here is how much I see this hobby as an investment in my grandkids, I won't go on about it ...but in an xbox world at least with a plane I can get them outside.

Hey Machette... sorry.. I do hang poo on the Electrafun from time to time but I've also acknowledged it's role in getting me hooked on this hobby.

Crawf

You and I agree on the Electrafun, as you know. The Reliant Robin is a good comparison, I'd also consider the early Skoda Octavia - remember them ? I once read a review where the guy writing it said that the best thing he could say about it was that it had a good set of tyres !!!

In all seriosness though, like you, I got into this via the EF and so I have to be grateful for that, so I won't knock it too much !

Thanks for the info on the lipos - and you too Bleary, it makes perfect sense to Machette and I to go for 2 x 2200 lipos in parallel, much cheaper too and far more flexibke in use. I can see we'll have to order a swag of connectors now from Taiwa !!

Nice bright cold day eh ? Lets hope the wind settles over the next few days.

Cheers

Thinking although not a war bird maybe the magister needs some bomb bay doors ........as the batteries are depleted you could just eject 'em out the door

and don't be apologising to me Crawf, I was sitting here thinking of using the electrafun body as a mold and make a foamie out of it if for no other reason so I could put the stinkin' servos on the outside ......fixed it though without the remould.....with cute little clear blue servos with sheathed plastic control rods with adjustable clevises........and a BL

really important someone do a thread on beginners.....it wouldn't ever be an electrafun if I had any say......that wiould be the thread about "determining which is the problem, is it crap components or the crap setup" or "How to achieve the maximum radio interference using only two short pieces of wire"

as i've said the ElectraFun has taught me heaps.

Machette,

I'd second that, as I'm sure a lot here would too.

Cheers

Battery bay in the MPXT is a bit tight... some of my LiPos may need some LiPo-suction to fit
