We are very excited to be offering the new Yardbird RC F-22. This is a really cool jet with a lot of unique features not found in other foamy jets. It's very complete with a ton of quality hardware and no wood parts whatsoever. It's CNC machined out of dark gray Depron and has a huge flight envelope, from slow high alpha, to fast and straight-up vertical!

I love the mid-mounted motor on park jets because you get air over the control surfaces and there are no CG/balance issues. We have several motors for this jet depending on your flying style. Of course, most jet pilots want to go fast!

Just follow the link to get more information and watch the video at the bottom of the description. This thing rocks!

I was wondering why you would need the Dualsky GT series LiPo that puts out 34A when the suggested motor the Dualsky 2826CA-12T has a Max Continuous current: 12A, 16 A burst? Why couldn't you use a less expensive 16c or 22A continuous current battery?

You certainly don't need a battery cabable of 32.5 amps continuous if you're running the Dualsky motor. But the key to performance with these jets is to keep the voltage as high as possible. You could run a 1000 mah, 15C battery and be safe and it would fly fine. But it would not be near as fast as a battery delivering 25 or 30 amps.

Any flight reports from customers yet? What setup (motor/battery/speed control/prop) is used on the F-22 in the video? Ken

Ken,

The F-22 in the video is running a Dualsky 2826CA-12 motor with an APC 7/5E prop, a Dualsky 18 amp ESC, and a Dualsky GT series 25C 1300 mAh 3 cell battery.

The first hand reports I have from a couple guys say it flies great. I have flown the exact power set-up in the AeroCat and it is impressive. Only pulls around 15 amps wide open with nearly 25 oz. of thrust. The Dualsky GT batteries are excellent.

How do you think it would fly if I put a little screamers parkjet in her?

I think it would fly well with a LSPJ and a 6/5.5. But, I have found that some of these park jets like a bigger prop since they have more drag. A 7/5 prop hooks up really well in jets like this.

It's a matter of finding the perfect combination of speed and thrust. On the F-22, I think the 7/5 is the ticket. I haven't had a chance to test different motors on the plane, but I know the Dualsky 2826CA-12T and APC 7/5 is a great power package for it.

GG, do you recommend this plane for a first time jet pilot? I have flown 4 channel .40 planes. I'm looking for an easy to fly jet and this one looks like a good choice. Which set-up is best for a first timer?

Thanks!
