I'm actually kinda' surprised the crystal from the Futaba receiver worked in the Esky receiver. I thought the Futaba was a dual conversion receiver and the Esky was single conversion, thus the crystal would oscillate at a different frequency, for the same output freq. Is the Esky a dual conversion receiver? I have a 6EXH PCM/PPM coming my way via Ebay. I plan on using my current FM Esky receivers and the one Futaba one that comes with it in different helis. PPM is FM. I have no doubt the transmitter will work. I am just surprised the crystals interchange. Tom

well, "work" is not what it is doing yet...but I am assuming that you are saying that you are surprised that it is even catching the signal? Every stick moves something, I just need to get them moving the right things.

I was more worried about the physical size of the crystal's can. The 146iP is a single conversion, PCM receiver, so the freqs should be OK.

I haven't tried the esky receiver in the hbk2 but in my esky hbmk3 4n1 receiver the futaba crystals do not work. Just as you suspect the 4n1 is single conversion and dual conversion crystals will not fuction. I can take the original single conversion crystal from the esky tx and put it in my 6eax and it works fine. However I went back to the original tx because the sticks have much softer springs and I can make smoother actions. I don't know why but the esky tx that came with the hbk2 has much stronger springs than the hbmk3. Does someone make aftermarket springs for radios with different tensions?

Hi guys,

I don't know if this question has been asked before so please bear with me. I don't know the proper way to set the pitch of the flybar paddles. I have a blade pitch tool that you are suppost to align with the flybar but how do you set the flybar?

Jim

Here's the simple version:

-- disconnect the motor
-- turn on the tx
-- power the heli
-- put the throttle stick up to center
-- switch the tx to idle-up

At this point you have several adjustments you can make:
-- adjust the servo arms so they are at 90 degrees to the body of the servo
-- adjust the lengths of the servo-to-swashplate links so the washout arms and swashplate are both level (centers the head pitch range)
-- adjust the pitch links (from the swash to the mixer arms) so the blades are at precisely zero pitch (this is where you use the pitch gauge, and centers the blade pitch range)

I assume you're using the stock tx; if you have a computer radio then you proceed from that to setting your pitch curves and limits.

Spektrum DX7, Rx AR6100, (3) DS285. (About $340 shipped)

Is this the right combo for heli?

I know of a couple of people using the DX7 and DS285s and liking them, but to me the DS285s seem slow for the cost. I have HS55s on mine right now, but I'm going to put the Futaba S3114s back on-- they're a lot faster, though a little fragile, so not a good choice if you crash a lot. I put the HS55s on because I was waiting for replacement gears for the S3114s, so I know .

Well since I got the bl motor installed I fired it up and now the belt is coming off . What is the opinion of most on how to fix it? Should I drill a hole higher in the main shaft?

Jim, Go back a couple of pages and check out the pics of ezveedubs mod and my mod, both are easy to accomplish and work awesome. I don't believe either requires drilling the main shaft which is nice. If you need the bearings or the align spacers like on mine, let me know and I will get you fixed up buddy. I think I have the extra bearings in stock and am waiting on the align spacers to get here on thursday. You will have really slight mods to do to the frame but they are very simple.

I have Futaba radio, I couldn't tell you about Spektrum, except the DX7 is supposed to be very good.
