Hey guys....was just finishing up the pitch curves on my HBK2 and the battery died on the TX (Dx6) so won't be able to put the throttle curves in until tomorrow morning. I did spool up the DanLion 3800kv tho and I have to say........Now thats like a TREX!!!!!!!! Get this....I now have CW rotation of the tail which means.....its gonna hold!! Finally after all the monkeying around and pouting I have been doing, I think I have a flyable HBK2. I bought this as a trainer for my TREX so if crashed it would be a little easier on the pocketbook.
I have a question for those of you that are running yours with a programmable pitch curve. Are you running -9 to +9 pitch or have most dropped it down to 7 degrees each way? thats for idle up mode and i do have it set up for -2 to +9 in normal with a 3 point throttle curve of 0 at low stick, then 65 at midstick and 100 at high stick. I will probably leave the stock throttle curve in idle up at 100 low, 80 midstick and 100 high. If anyone has some pitch settings that they have found to work with thiers.....let me know!

Your tail rotation should be CCW, turning up into the main rotor wash. Did you change the direction intentionally?

LOL........no George, I have never been able to get the tail to hold before this brushless install......I have always had a CCW rotation in the tail because of not enough pitch in the tail blades. I wasn't aware one could adjust the pitch of the blades any other way except by moving the servo up and down the boom. After talking to Rusty by phone the other nite some things about the tail design finally clicked for me. I currently have a set of CF Align tail blades installed and am now thinking I can go back to stock blades. As i said before the DX6 pooped out before I did last nite, but is just finished charging this morning. Sadly I have to run and get more material for the job this morning so won't be able to tinker until tonite when I get home.

Here is my aluminium Skids i made for my King 2 prior to fitting to the heli. I got fed up with replacing the plastic skids so made this as a direct replacement. though only weigh 40grams thanks to the holes i drilled in to the frame.

If any one in iterested i could make some for you , let me know via Private message.

Jim - I replace my stock servos with the eflite s75's usually, they are cheap and do a great job.. I would use the s-60 on the tail though, it is a little faster and will give you a little better response. There are a multitude of servos that will work but the eflites are a bolt on replacement.

I was looking at the Hitec HS-55's today. I think they are the same price range as the E-Flite S75's. I would prefer a faster tail servo though. I was looking at the Futaba S3114 for that job. It won't bolt in for the cyclic servo job though. Hole spacing is too small. Its actually pretty fast & has higer torque than all the other servos mentioned. While on the servo subject, I was doing some more preflight checks and tuning with the DX7 and found the right side servo was not centered (travel movement wise). At high throttle, when moving cyclic to the left it would stop moving while the other servo still was. Its a good idea to check your servo movement and install the arms centered. I should have seen this before when I was adjusting the subtrim.

Rusty...and everyone else for that matter. The Eflite S75's gears strip readily with a hard landing (CP-Pro experience). The stock servo's on the HBKII seem to be holding up well for me and I've had my share of hard landings and crashes with it. I'm very impressed with the durability of the stock servos. I did blow out the right rear servo on my HBKII the other day but replaced it with a re-wired HS-55 which is working well. Had I been using Eflite S-75's...all would have needed replaced by now. Note of caution on the S75's also...moving the servo arms by hand will also strip the gears readily. TRUST ME on this one...I know.

Ya What crash said (lol} Hi Guys after reading all the 87 pages of the king post ad all of the tuner pages I really feel like I know all of you already . Around page forty I pulled out the card and ordered the king2(be here Friday) Putting the esky 3900 and their 25amp esc as the power train. For cyclic I will use 55s or 56s s50 on tail. Striped too many s75 on the Blade pro and really like the 55s I put in the axe cp. Hoping the King is the sweet spot for me I've tried the Blade pro, Falcon3d, Trex 450 sa,450se and Axe cp.

The Trexes are great of course but I wanted the King for back yars FUNNNNNNNN. I'm sure every one knows this already but the 55's need to be rewired if you don't have a computer type radio. I have the Optic 6 but when I grow up I want the DX7. At 55 I'm not redy to grow up Just YET

Actually, I've set mine up with the S3114s and with HS55s both. The 3114s are a little tight but they will screw in, and they do fly better than the HS55s, but the HS55s work well for general messing around, still. I use the S3154 and GY401 on the tail, but the S3114 would probably work fine, too, particularly with a less expensive gyro. A full Futaba setup on the King makes for a very strong heli.

[edit] BTW-- if you crash a lot, get some extra arm sets for the 3114s. It's rare that they strip gears, but I think that's because they have very lightweight arms, and it's not uncommon for them to break even in a minor incident. [/edit]

Man, GY401, S3154 digital servo on tail and S3114 on cyclic! I think thats more than the HBK2! Sure makes for good response though. How hard was the S3114 install. I know the mounting holes are about 2mm smaller than stock spacing, so I didn't try to get them.
