.5 mod refers to the pitch of the pinions teeth, the higher the pitch the flatter the pinion grooves become if I am not mistaken

I have been running the Align, 9 tooth without any trouble. I did turn down the tapered portion on my lathe so that it would fit through the frame slot. I left the set screw all the way in so that I could then unscrew it and clean the threads after turning.

I have problem that I cannot seem to correct. I can set the blade tracking so they are perfectly aligned up to a point. Just when rotation reaches lift off one blade will go higher and of course create vibration. I can then readjust one blade by only 1/2 turn and then the other blade will lose track by going higher? There is no less adjustment I can do. Is this just from slop in the plastic parts, very frustrating?

step 1: Hold the heli in your hand and spool it up to where it will hover....visually check tracking. step two: Raise or lower either blade as required. Tracking changes dramaticly when under enough power to hover or fly. Adjusting pitch on the TX changes things too. Make sure blade grips aren't too tight and make sure the feathering shaft nuts arent too tight or too loose.

All these factors can prevent proper tracking.

i had a bad tracking problem and found out that i had my first bent feathering shaft!! my tracking is good at about 60% throttle. then when i max out the throttle the tracking is off a little.. is this normal?? i am also getting a very bad vibration in the tail.. the tail box shakes real bad, i replaced the tailshaft and it still does this.. i noticed that it started after i installed the 3900 motor with the 10 tooth pinion.. i put the 3100 back in last night to see if there is any difference.. i also replaced the tail blades.. havent tried with the 3100 yet.. also my superskids shake very bad also.. could i have a bent main shaft??

This noobs opinion on the blade tracking is that you might have to adjust the feathering shaft nuts(like Crash says). I had a heck of a time a few months ago with this same problem. All I did was tighten the nuts on the feathering shaft until the blade holders failed to turn smoothly(this also sets the o-rings nicely into the heads cavity) and then backed the nut out, just enough to give you the play that you need. The tighter the tolerance to the head with nice smooth movement, seemed to be the ticket for me....Of course make sure that your shaft is not taco'd, doood!

One time I installed the Bell Arms with the long arm of the part pointing out instead of in toward the head....Talk about not being able to track blades!! lol, it took me a frustrated week to figure it out!! Heads up?

Peace,

Z

Sheerider,

Could be Gyro gain? But I would also spin the head around by hand and watch for awkward movement of the pulley and shaft. you might be able to see a tweak in the swash as well....Is your belt twisted one too many times around or running off the pulley?

Just ideas that I think of....

Z

My guess is a bent feathering shaft. Unless you've had a SEVERE crash (and I mean a HARD one), the main shaft don't bend normally. Easy enough to check though....pull the rotorhead and spool it up. If it's bent, you'll see it. A bent tail rotor shaft can happen, but very unlikely.

BTW...being off a little at full power (less than 1/8" seperation in the blades, according to the book, that's acceptable. Sometimes it might be impossible to dial it in perfect.

Does anyone know if there is another tail rotor belt that will work on
the HBK2 besides the stock one?

Thanks in advance

no the tail stays still and the gyro is definately doing its job.. it just has a very bad vibration!! i noticed it as soon as i installed the 3900 motor.. i think maybe the motor is causing a vibration.. i will try it out today with the 3100 motor to see if the problem is still there.. what other brand of motor will work besides the esky?? belt is not twisted either.. i made sure when i installed it, i had that problem before and chewed up a brand new belt on the 43tooth setup..

Try the Danlion 3500kv with the danlion DLA33, in my opinion the best motor combo I have flown. I also use the hobbywing and waypoint esc and they do a very good job without costing a fortune. I would say that between my scorpion powered king and my danlion powered king I like the danlions better, I run them on my hdx and trex kits as well and they perform flawlessly.
