I just completed my first flight with my HBK2 and went great. First cp heli and i could handle it very well. Ran through a whole batter with the stock setup but i got a brushless system on the way because stock brushed gets way too hot. My belt has small little frays down it but no slipping or issues....just wondering if this is normal and if there is any kind of oil i could put on it to keep it from fraying. Thanks!

A little fuzz is normal but make sure your belt stays on the guied rollers. NO OIL.

Nothing important just running a test.

every time i email them, they tell me its delayed. 2 weeks ago, he said that they sent them back due to qc issues. He said not to expect them before the end of the month, and that was optimistic.

Thanx for the answer Michael,I won't hold my breath waitin' on them boys to get it together

I figured you'd engineer a fix yourself Chief. I never had upper frame probs with the HBKII, I guess I was lucky. I always had the battery hangar/lower fail on me so I made an aluminum one that worked great....never failed again.

Ya know Vic,I have absolutly nothing in my shop to make anything light enough for any rc helo. The last of our aluminum is 1/8",and I ain't gonna do anything with that.No sheetmetal here anymore...........the cubbard is bare I haven't looked, but I don't believe we have anymore steel here either. When we retired and closed the shop,we got rid of tons of stuff (mostly heavy stuff) and when one of our bros stopped in and needed some odds n ends, hell, take what ya need.We don't even have an old set of gas tanks to slice up.LOL.

LOL...lucky for me the LHS has .032 aluminum sheets 12" x 6". It's not the super hardened stuff like 6061 or 7075- T6. As matter of fact, it might be less than T3 in hardness. It bends easily without breaking and files easily also. I just did the layout and did my thing with a drill and avation snips, bent, filed, fitted, painted and installed. I had 4 sheets of the stuff...I used it up and need to buy more. Making the aluminum battery hangar was a lot of work, but it was the last battery hangar I ever needed for the HBKII and it saw a couple of horrific crashes.

Well...I contacted Hobbico about the fate of the MX-400, and it's HISTORY. I'm sure they got something comming out behind it, most likely a 450/500 class heli. Don't think I'm gonna maintain the MX-400 I have. When I run out of parts...I'm done. The EXI-450 will find it's way to my door within the next few weeks (mid June?). I had a terrible crash with the AirWolf...the fuse shattered like glass...that one is history. I never crashed the Huey...go figure. YES...I got another scale project in mind. I can tell you this...if you're gonna do a scale project....dont do re-tracts...they aren't worth the hassle. The Agusta 109 has fixed wheels...which is OK, or pick one that uses skids. Retracts are just too labor intensive.

My nearest lhs is around 70 miles round trip,so that ain't gonna happen soon.I've been burning around 20 gallons of diesel a week here doing yard(field) work.At 4 bux per, there goes my rc loot for now.Sorry to hear about the crashs, and the demise of the mx-400.Time to score that exi-450.Tons and tons of parts available, even at your lhs,I doubt if you would have to wait for anything(cept money )It's making me crazy that I haven't gotton my slick done yet,but I did need a new radio so that took priority, and I'll not have to buy one again now, just $100.00 RX's I've got some really perved out ideas for my slick project too, they'll just have ta wait a while. Are you going to do up a cascading tail rotor system for that? I gotta get, another day on the tractor,ya'll take care.

Will the Blade CP blades work on a HBK2...thats all my LHS has? I let a blade hit today and broke it and i took both blades off and ran it up to see if anything was broke but everything was fine except for a slight wobble at low speed. Is that just because i didn't have blades on ? I looked everything over, belt on, no warped flybar or blade grips so i'm guess its just because i didn't have blades on it...is that right ?

Is possible bent feathering shaft (shaft that goes through the grips. Not sure if you know what it is or not) . Doesn't take much of a blade strike to bend em. Not sure if that would cause wobble or not. Spin the feathering shaft and see if the other end spins true. Then again, mine seems to have a slight wobble too and I have new main shaft and feathering shaft.

Both of you guys....

1: any bend in a feathering shaft will cause the "shakes"/vibratios/wobbling.

2: You can use Blade CP Blades, it's do-able and I've done it. You'll need to increase pitch to get the headspeed down a little but it works...just not real good.

Yeah...the crashes ain't no thing. Just gets me closer to the EXI-450 FASTER. I got one MX-400 operational, and a lot of parts off the other. Got me another scaler in mind too...gotta wait on it for a bit though. Had to mow this hayfield I call a YARD...jeebus, shouldn't have let it get that bad....maybe I need GOATS (LOL). I took parts off BOTH MX-400's and built a NEW MX-400 using the 120deg CCPM upper...pretty sweet now and very stable. Wind is up...no flying today.
