ok guys i am having a BAD problem with my new dx6i.. it seems to loose signal and the heli just goes where it wants.. it did it a few times in the garage, but i figured it was the metal rails bouncing the signal maybe, but i was outside just now and had the worst crash ever!! my stock tx setup wasn't this bad, now i have a stripped servo, stripped main gear, and a bent feathering shaft!! i am serious, this radio sucks,, i just bought it brand new,.. anyone run across this?

I did the 'loosen 2 turns' method and it works perfect. Also applied a silicon spray on the tail shaft and no problems.

I've heard also that the 55's were junk....in helis, I've never had a problem, and I loved 'em in the CP-Pro with the DX6. Oh, when I stripped my 3 HS-55's, they were in an electrifly Corsair....lost elevator (not because of the servo tho)...straight into the ground from 30ft...that'll do it (LOL). I also stripped one HS-55 in my HBKII....it was a right oblique stuff at a high rate of speed, one of the worst heli crashes I ever had....only one out of 4 HS-55's stripped/quit working, and I don't consider that to be bad at all....even for the price $13 ea before shipping.

Ha, last plank crash was lawn darting my UCanDo foamie. Demolished the gearbox and motor stick, but no damage to the 4 HS55s in it.

sheerider......... Does it act like you completely lose all contact with your heli? I have a DX6 with the AR6000 setup on both my HBK2 and my TREX. I had to place the RX on the bottom of the battery tray with both small antennaes sticking out the back and side. 2.4 systems are very particular about line of sight, I tried to set up a foamie plane and put the RX inside the fuselage. I tore up 2 wings figuring out i needed to either have the RX outside the fuse or install a 72mhz setup in it. I went 72 and have each of the 4 spektrum Rx's in helis...all on the bottom and with the antennae wires sticking out so from almost every orientation I have a line of sight connection.
Another possibility could be your power supply to your RX getting cut out....... check your ESC wires or your BEC wires if you have it hooked up that way. Keep in mind most ESC's with built in BEC's are only designed for 3 servos max. Toss in a digital and a gyro and you could be overpowering your ESC.
Just a couple of possibilities to look at................

i have the a6200 with the extra remote mounted rx.. the rx is mounted in the original position with the antenna wires sticking out the back on the sides, the other remote rx is mounted in front of the motor(above the battery) up front.. yes it seems to loose all contact with the tx.. i am running an esky brushless motor and a esky esc.. is this a bad combo?? should i stick with the stock tx and use my spektrum on my trex?? i wonder if the align esc will be ok?? i am going to run a digital servo on the trex for the tail... this 200 dollar radio just caused me to wreck.. i almost thought about sending it in for warranty.. what should i do?

Do you have a way to check the voltage the receiver is getting? This could be power related rather than antenna related.

not really.. i was hovering it about 2 feet off the ground when it happened.. wasn't doing anything hardcore!! plus all batteries are fully charged.. i have heard stories about "line of sight" with the rx's they have to be mounted just right.. there are other people that have this same problem.. maybe the esky esc is not giving enough power and the tx and rx are having to rebind .. and i was only 2 feet away from the heli when it happens.. kinda sounds like a power issue doesn't it??

I've had complete loss of power before, heli dropped out of the sky, blades were at what ever pitch I had them in...auto rotation in the truest sense I guess (LOL), no flight controls, motor control....nothing. A good solid plant on the Align skids...not a scratch on the heli at all.

Shot in the dark, I know the speks are overly sensitive to low voltage or voltage drops unlike the futs. I have had many customers describe the same symptoms of contact loss and after further investigation it was determined that their radios had been run to a point of low voltage that caused the radio to reset to factory defaults. I have also experienced them coming unbound in several instances but at the range you are speaking of, that would be rare.

well what would be the solution for fixing this problem?? moving up to an esc with a 6v bec??? the esky esc is a 5v bec.. maybe the extra volt will help out?? i have an align esc for my trex and it has a v bec also(should have got the 6v one)

That was what I was wondering about. The plastic frame on the King shouldn't cause much in the way of LOS problems- they should be just about transparent, but things like the motor and battery could cause shadowing, I guess. You should be careful to keep the antennae away from the boom or boom stays (aluminum and CF are definitely not transparent ).

[edit] No, we're talking about battery voltage dropping- a higher voltage BEC won't change anything. [/edit]
