ok.. i am not familiar with an external bec .. please explain in detail.. its just not clear to me.. i am building an expensive trex and do not want to crash it because of radio problems.. it is happening everytime i fly the hbk2.. i haven't had the chance to get it 20 feet away yet.. so sad.. lol

Not having a dx anything,I don't know what the manual sez,BUT,on my Futaba 7c fasst,it clearly states to fully charge the TX battery before messing around trying to fly.On my radio, that is 15 to 18 hours on charge, for around 3.5 to 4 hours flying. Also, being that my battery pack is nicad,it needs to be discharged about once a month to prevent memory.Just a thought bro.

ok.. do i get a special esc to use an external bec?? how does it wire up?? also let me explain the mounting situation i have with the spektrum rx's ok the 2 receivers are parallel to each other like this, - - which are the wires coming out of the rx's .. would it be better situated like this - -
- - i
i
hope that makes sense.. lol so what i would end up with is each wire pointing its own direction, .

Ha, yes, it does. Isn't that what the manual advises, to have them at 90 degrees to each other?

Another thought occurs to me, btw- did you range check it with the motor off? I.e., disconnect the motor, and follow the radio's instructions for a range check while a helper holds the heli and turns it in different directions/aspects to you.

i did fully charge the batteries in the tx.. not sure what is causing the problem.. i will reposition the rx's to see if it changes things.

no i did not range check it.. and yes the manual (SOMEWHAT) indicates to mount them 90 degrees to each other.. it really does not say that but shows it mounted that way in a picture.. u think that is the problem??

Don't know that that's it or not- you're going to have to follow these up and see. Sometimes helicopters are as much puzzles as they are aircraft. But if it is a shadowing or polarization issue, then I would expect a range check to expose that. It's cheaper than taking off to see if it goes out of control, too . Notwithstanding, you should always range check it after you install, change or reposition electronics.

Just for grins...do a re-bind. If I recall correctly...I had problems once, and a re-bind cured it.

Anyone got the scoop on the E-Sky 8G servos? I heard they will be discontinued and a crappy 7.5 to replace. These 8G's hold up fairly well (compared to S-75's or HS-55's) and at $7.00 ea...they're great. If they are discontinued....I'll have to find one the same price, and quality as the E-Sky 8G's...I love 'em (use 'em in foamie planks, any heli up to a 450...they're great).

I just got a Honey Bee FP with digital servos and it does flips so fast It doesn't even need negative pitch...........OK, I'm kidding. Anyway, they are EK2-0508 and look identical to the 8g's except for the label. I'm willing to bet the gears are the same. I'm glad to know the 8g's normally hold up well. I killed 3 of them in one crash - must have been a fluke. I bought 3 new servos and 6 gear sets. Haven't stripped one since and I even broke a set of Xtreme blades.

Sheer,
I used the Esky 25A ESC on my HBK2 with the 3100KV motor and the Telebee Gyro using a Spectrum RX and have never had any problems with it. I now swapped it out with a better 25A Align ESC. As far as your T-Rex I have two SEs and both use the spectrum RXs with no problems. Both are running the 430L and 35A ESC with the 9250 tail servos and either HS-55s or HS-65MGs and both of them run fine also using a G90 and Align H/H Gyros. Could be a bad RX try rebinding and checking range as suggested and it should work.

i did some research though.. it seems there are a lot of people having this same problem with the spektrum, there are NO complaints on the futaba!! i would rather have the stock radio back in it.. it was a lot better as far as not losing control.. anyone want to buy a spektrum cheap?? still have the receipt from a week ago

I started a thread last week "Crashing with my DX6i"....I was having the exact same thing happen to my Heli. I was losing all control and my heli would plummet toward the ground and gain radio connection just before smashing into the ground(took way longer than 4ms to connect, more like 3-4 seconds). I got pretty luck that most crashes were minor(feathering shafts, main blades, small head parts..) I always noticed that after flights, my main Rx was always blinking(meaning it lost connection or browned out) but the remote Rx had a solid light)
The way I fixed it was change out the main Rx with the secondary Rx I bought to get a free Rx(She sells sea shells by the sea shore..?). I then had to send in the non-functioning Rx for replacement....I have not had any problems since. I believe that I must have got a bunk Rx....

NOTE: I installed a 5.3-5.8V BEC and it didn't help at all with these brownouts.....I left in on for insurance? anyway..

i do remember reading that when you bind the rx you need to rebind it again.. i only did one bind.. i will also do that.. rebind, remount rx, and try it out.. sorry for being so negative earlier guys.. you know how it is when this stuff happens after you have spent so much money and then your heli thinks its a rock!! lol i did however work on my falcon 40 tonight(had to get it back together) and also replaced the stock servos with some hs55's i had laying around!! smooth flying now, but i will need to move the linkages in closer on the servo arms to make it not sooo sensative!! one small bump on the stick and ZOOOOOOOOOMMMM it goes!! well its late and the fish will be calling me in a few hours so g'nite! thanks for the helpful input guys.. i really do appreciate it..,gary
