I use both the esky 1250mAh and the 1500mAh batteries with good results.

I've been flying planks for many years and have slowly picked up small hand tools. You don't really need many different types, but I would suggest getting the best you can. Good tools will last many years.

I have the 1000mah E_sky batteries but would like to get some with a little more mah... hopefully will not have to change the connecting plugs.
The batteries I have use the JST plugs.

I started out using the JST's but found they cannot carry the current and will get warm. Use Deans. They are larger and can carry much more current. Soldering them is not very difficult.

YEAH, I know... I have Deans T plugs in my glider's ESC and its battery... I really should change everything I've got to Deans but I just can't get going... between ESC and Batteries, I have quite a few that I'd need to change.
I wish vendors were standarized on plugs... it is a royal pain to start cutting and soldering plugs, especially when you have to get equipment like ESC out of the plane/Heli(not too bad in the Helis) in order to get the soldering done.

Don't bother removing the stock pinion, when you get your new motor get new pinions with set screws. I personally run align and have never had a problem with them, I also have been running the rhino gears and can't say they are any better than the aligns. I would still recommend using a dab of loktite even with the set screw pinions just to ensure hold. Depending on which motor you get will depend on the output shaft size, (there are two standard sizes, 2.3mm & 3.17mm) you may need to alter the way you mount the pinion on the shaft due to the size of the opening in the frame. I do not even run any 2.3mm shaft motors anymore so I have to mount the pinion either upside down or dremel out the opening ever so slightly to accommodate the larger pinion but well worth it in my opinion

On the servos, I received in my first shipment of the 7.5g stockers and have had a chance to test them for durability and performance. First thing I noticed is they definitely center better than the 8g's but are not any better from what I can tell in performance, they can post all the specs in the world about speed but these are no quicker than the 8g's, performance is almost identical to the 8g's. Having said that, tail control is slightly better and more precise and for the money I would find it tough to complain, they did perform well at the tail. I know the big question is how tough are they and I refuse to wreck the helicopter they are mounted on intentionally so you will just have to wait I do it by accident (won't be long I promise) to find out, lol. I will say this in all fairness, at this price I feel like they heartier than the eflites and cheaper than any other servo that is as good, I do not believe they went backwards but also do not feel they made any advancements. The word I got from esky was the change was made due to the fact that esky plans to upgrade their kits to a version of the art tech hh gyro as standard equipment like the art techs in the near future and they wanted these servos to accommodate the upgrades. All in all, in my opinion they are still a good buy for the money.

I hated the Align pinions on my HBK2...I chewed up 3-4 main gears because of how they were running on the gear. I am sure that you were using one of those motor mount doo-hickeys you were talking about before? I went to the B400 main gear and stock Eflight 10T pinion. Have not chewed a gear yet with this config.....

1/2 cents worth..

Z

i hated the Align pinions as well...so i tried the Revco pinions. they are quite LOUD...i put a eflite 10T press-on on my Compy today...man it sounds so smooth. i think i'm going to go with one on the K2

About those Align pinions. they seemed to me like the pitch of the gears was different or something? Real awful mesh for me and chewed main gears.....

I swear by the B400 main gear and Eflight pinion combo! I used to just swear!! $@%@&*@%

I have the 11T and the 10T...My little Hyperion does great with the 10T. I have so far, stuck with the 10 as my favorite!

So I'm searching around for local hobby shops (one that is by my house was out of the 3.17 11t pinions i needed for my new motor). Find one is about 10 miles away. Walk in and start looking around and something catches my eye....HBK2 on the shelf!! I cant believe I found a LHS that sells em and stocks parts. SWEET!!! No more waiting for parts. Sad part is I dont think anyone there really flies helis.
