Crash, You still working on that thing..Man i am sorry for that...Nightmare!! Hehehe Crash is definitely working with knock off purple stuff. The owner of that heli bought the entire set on fleabay for 50 or 60 bucks.....I really like the HDX CNC heads alot! I waited patiently for the King 2 specific head to come out and it finally did(bought it on 06/03). The CNC head is made in the HDX factory with 7075 aluminum, just like it's big brothers. I will not get it until Friday the 6th(i hope!!!). I will post a review as soon as I can. I am not too worried about the head though. It is basically the same parts as the plastic head, reconstructed in CNC. No funny gimmicks or TRex copying...I posted the coupon code from Jeff to buy the head at the same price as all his heads($99.99)....Rosebud left the link above...Other than that, I will let you all know when I have a vid posted...

Peace,

Z

The best I can do for this heli is replace a couple parts, test fly, and send it back in flyable condition, which was better than when I got it for sure. I can't physically tune it to my standards because of the CNC stuff (I'm very picky). Outside with NO wind....I sould get about 10-20 seconds hands off before it starts to do something....I can pull maybe 5-10 seconds at best. I've had my MX-400 hands off for about 30 seconds once...best I can pull with that equipment right there. I flew the HBKII around the driveway today (3ft) for 1 full charge with 3-5mph winds. I guess it did OK for what it is. I would love to tune it in a little better, but I think that will be impossible.

I believe that they are going to sell parts in 6 separate packages. My guess is that they are not real worried about posting them yet because they are not expecting mass failures....I will verify that the 6 packages pictured below, are going to be available for separate purchase. I will also try and get the price...

EDIT: Jeff got back to my email real quick! He said that he will have the parts listed on the site within 1 week..He wanted to know my suggestions on which he should stock the most. Anyone would just be hypothesizing not knowing what kinda hits these heads take and/or what will be a weak link....I would almost want to say the same parts as the plastic kit will fail, eventually? But this is a new beast. I won't speculate too much!!

You can buy the individual parts that will interchange through microheli (hdx), I hardly ever sell just a part, these heads are tough. Even their feathering shafts are tough, lol.

....Looks like Microheli only carries the see-saw with mixing arms and the hiller control arms for the new CNC head. Is microheli the manufacturer's(HDX) alias? Just another distributor? By the looks of them, the swashes they make are much different than xmseller/HDX parts too. I guess I am assuming they both just have some of the same parts from HDX factory and are separate from each other.

I used Google street to see what the physical address of XMSeller looked like. It seems as though he runs this business out of 1/4 of a four-plex, 1/3 of a triplex. hard to see down the Looooong driveway!! hehehe

Peace,

Z

I can tell you from carrying both that you are very close to being right on, sonix is the parent company for both and short of subtle differences they are the same thing. Now microheli differs from both and is a separate company that sonix even though hdx uses them for certain parts on their helis. I think microheli is the best of the three in overall quality and precision in some parts and hdx being better in others. I will say the hdx tail assy is the better than the 3dx but the heads are essentially the same short of the flybar holder and swash even though the swash is interchangeable. It is just my opinion microheli puts that little extra bit in their bearings and finish that give it the slight edge but you cannot go wrong with any of the three. The big thing here is people falling for the copterx garbage, it ought to be a red flag when you are looking at every other head for $99 and they run theirs for $49, lol.

Z, I don't think they have a factory. It's helidirect's "house" brand. It's private label (rebadged) stuff if the price is low enough. If the price isn't low enough, parts are made (oem) at whichever factory makes the particular item the cheapest, and then labeled with his brand. Cheap pricing is their main focus and the reason for their success.
Microheli has a factory with their own engineers, cnc, assemblers, etc. High quality is their main focus and the reason for their success.

I'm not drawing a line of distinction. With the cheap pricing goal, some products in the line will still have good quality. With the top quality goal, some products will still be reasonably inexpesnsive.

It sort of balances it's self out, and the end user (we the users) benefit. Just a few years back, R/C helicopters were NOT within the working mans reach in price. Thanks to advancements in technology and competetion...we now can enjoy ( ) R/C helicopters. If you produce trash....it don't take long for people to make it known. If your stuff is good at a reasonable price, people make it known...hence the popularity of the HBKII ( a low end 300 sized R/C helicopter that has a reasonable degree of quality). Align is feeling the sting right now. They were the undisputed kings of the 450 class. Now, the clones are being produced with quality almost (and I mean real close) equal to the Align at 1/3rd the price. E-Flite has really taken a beating since the HBKII release because E-Flite cannot match quality or price in a 300 class unit. It's been interesting watching this hobby for the last two years.

HBKII ball links:

Do the ball links go on only one way?

I posted this question in another forum and didn't get a definitive answer. I've looked at the ball links under a high power lighted magnifying glass and measured the openings with a digital micrometer. I cannot see a difference in the size of the openings. The measured size was only about .004 difference. I cannot feel a difference when putting them on.

I know that on my T-Rex and BCPP, they are marked and are obviously different sized .

BTW, I Have done a search and can't find any thing about this.

I concluded that they were not handed like the ones on the 450s. It's nice since you can adjust the blades more closely if you can use half turns instead of full.
