Added some lights, and not much else kept mounting simple because I have an extra canopy, and will try it out later! painted inside of Hughes type canopy black! to hid innards!
Found canopy at XMhobbies. I see they no longer hv it on sale i got it at 17.00US plus shipping all together 23.00bucks, I also have been lucky enough to get a good buyer relationship w. seller in china He said he'll let me have any of the li-po's at cost no markup, sure wished I had it before I bought a new one for a whopping 40 bones!

E-Sky scale fuselage.....what do I think?

Pros:

* fairly good quality
* fit is tight, finish is pretty good
* went together without much problems
* actually flies pretty good

Cons:

* stock rudder pushrod is too short. To make the frame fit in the fuselage, I had to move the rudder servo right up to the rear of the frame, and make a custom rudder pushrod.

* Overall fit of the heli frame in the fuselage is TIGHT but do-able
* Horizontal stabs are a pain to glue in and have them hold position of being level
* need longer screws to connect the rear skid strut to the frame, and they're NOT provided.
* If you follow the enclosed directions...your screwed.
* flies a tad tail heavy...may be from the horizontal stabs being pushed on by rotor wash....happened with the Huey.

Overall...it's the best scale project I ever did as far as being easy and looking great. One big problem is the front section of the cabin is held by 8 tiny screws....that's 8 screws to change a battery....ehrrrrrr...no way man. I made a 5 point velcro tab system. You push the forward cabin on, and it stays. To change battery, simply pull off the front cabin, put in the new battery, and push the forward part of the cabin back on. It seems to be working fine. I flew this bird outside in 3mph winds, it held it's own pretty well considering.

Looks like another excellent job Vic.On the tailrotor pitch change rod,if there is a next time,use golden rod.Cut to length,put on the endz,and yer done,or so I'm told I haven't flown much.The wind here has been steady at 10knts,gusting to 20 plus,every single day this year so far!!! I did get some flying today,just after the sun started coming up,about 0530hrs.Got the tail dailed in finaly.Now i just have to dail in some swash offset to get her hovering the way I want it.Guess that will be tomorrow morning for 30 seconds,or so it seems I have yet to fly a battery pack out.Damn wind.

Yeah...I can't get outside to dial in the DX7 either because of wind. GoldenRod....I've used them in planes before...they're pretty good. I did it the simple way though. Took a piece of music wire, soldered an old threaded servo link to it. Got a ball link on the tail side and a "Z" bend on the servo side. Took all of 5 minuets and it's the perfect length. Inside the boom is very tight so you have to use the smallest diameter rod you can get away with without having it flex. I've built this E-Sky ranger for a friend, and I'm building one for the MX-400 right now too....Jeebus.

...Nice job Crash.

It kinda looks a bit "toy-ish. no?...maybe we can get you to do a fisher-price non-action-figure rescue video. Please include the theme to the "A-Team"...Or maybe "Magnum-P.I."...

Z...if you're talking about the blue and white ranger....that's the E-Sky fuse. Actually....I think it looks real close to a couple of real ones I've seen pictures of. I also have a ranger build going on. I'm in the middle of fitting the frame at the moment. As you can see, it will be in US Army battle dress as an LOH. Personally, I don't think either look too toyish.

Hi All,

Has anyone had this problem and found a fix? I am running the 43 T belt drive and cannot keep the boom from migrating into the frame. The belt finally becomes so loose the tail rotor stops, etc. etc. I was thinking of using a plastic hose clamp after adjusting the boom to sort of make a stop but this might also slip. I do not want to glue it as I will need to make periodic adjustments as the belt stretches. Any ideas?

Thank you

You're on the right track...people are using clamps or 1 CNC boom servo holder to accomplish a boom that don't move.

the hose clamp works...here's a pic...
btw, the stock tail boom has a slot at the forward end...the slot fits a ridge in the plastic boom holder...in time the slot narrows from over-tightening, or not being aligned with the ridge...ken

Thanks Crashcrash, Kenhiraihnl, I will try it this afternoon. We have been having incredible, windless days in the afternoons and I am now up to about 40 seconds of hover time. Lot of learning to go but man is that a thrill once you start to control a hover.

I just wrap one turn of Scotch Tape around the end of the boom and it seems to work well.
