what are you going to use for a belt?
the trex belt is longer but its wider and the it rubs on its sides on the fiberglass boom, I already tried it.
You still have the stock tail right? The cnc tail doesnt slide all the way onto the boom. I made my last boom extra long so it extened all the way into the upper frame (had to work the belt over the rear gear) but its got more support then ever before back in the frame area.

Wind let down so I put 'er UP and did some flying around the house. I started having bad control problems but I landed it in one piece. The flybar control pushrod was gone, the anti rotation bracket was broke...but that's it, and I got spares....wow what a hairy landing that was.

Cool Pics Crash!

quick question for all you HBK2 vets....
today after 3 battery's, NO crashing or hard landings I noticed on the 4th battery my tail started to wobble or wag like crazy! nothing was bent...like I said have have not crashed it.
so I ended up adjusting the gain up (+) on the gyro.
it seems to have fixed it for the most part.
have any of you guys had this happen? is it normal to have the gyro come out of adjustment??

also I have been using a 13t pinion...but I decided to try a 11t since seems most you guys run the 11t....I gotta say..not a big fan of the 11t...the 13t seems way stronger.
I think I am gonna switch back to my 13t unless there is some reason not to????

thanks

Did you check the tailrotor drive belt?It could have loosened up a bit.

yeah the belt was good and tight...weird!
I am wondering if my stock esky gyro is going south?? I have been doing so reading and some guys have reported intermittent gyro issues..but now it seems to hold/work pretty well.
I need to just take the dive and get a good TX, RX, and HH gyro...but I have spent to much on heli this month!!...lol..so I guess I will wait a bit and learn to fly some more first..

Yeah,I know how it feels.I just bought a futaba 7ch fasst, and it makes a BIG difference.I too am haveing problems with my gyro.Sometimes it works, other times it's on vacation,so I'll have to bite the bullet and get a decent one for the king.

My gyro has not made any major change (Telebee/Zoom) in about the last 10 batteries I ran through it. Change is always very minor like 2% + or back 2 % and that varies from from my old (weaker?) batteries to my new ones.I would be looking at maybe your servo is moving a little on the boom or hot and cold days. The servo mounts may not move but the servo may "settle" in the mounts a little, even moving 1/2 a mm can make a diff, or the tail assy binding a little at some point. I seem to need to clean the oil off the tailshaft and and relube it more when now that I run in HH 90% of the time. I stick with the same hobby oil all the time on the tail so I will notice of something changes. I tried a teflon oil but in the end it left a gunk of teflon that was a pain to clean completely off the shaft (sludge). So much for Triflo dry lube on the tail shaft.

Hey guys
I am new to rc helicopters (had a nitro car for 2 years now) and i have ordered a honey bee king 2...so excited, anyway i have been doing my research and have found out that the stock brushed motor burns out quickly so all the guys replace them with a brushless...so which one to get. I have looked at two different opptions,
First option is a 3800kv emax with programable 25A esc here are the links http://www.rc711.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=27_39&products_id=780 http://www.rc711.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=746) and my
Second option is esky 3800kv with 25A esc(http://www.rc711.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=27_39&products_id=323). Which is the best option
and i am guessing i would use a 11T pinion with either motor
Thanks in advance

Real cool looking Crash. Wish you would put out those videos you promised all of your fans! Do I have to wait for the DVD?

I completed my heli's transformation on Friday night except for the miscalculation of the Knighthead arms(servo ran into the horizontal stab). Notice in the picture that the rear-end part of the new knighthead is longer and sticking out of the mount. I left it this way so i can play with the length of the Stab. When i find the best place, I will chop it and stop it. I used the the Artech CF rods and drilled out plastic thingys(little white things in picture, what are these?) I had in my tool box from my airplane days. My only other problem was re-finding a perfect CG. I once again went to the slanted battery tray made out of thin galvanized steel and mounted with a feathering shaft for the extra weight I needed.

I am not sure if your question Funflier, was directed at me, but I used the stock belt for the Pigeon 450 and it is 100% perfect! I did take out 2 of the tiny little washers in the tail (I had 8 stacked on the end of the shaft) to allow for just a tad more breathing room for the belt. I probably did not have to do this but it is working great and I will leave it be. What I did was bring an old tail rotor shaft with pulley and my stock front pulley to match it up. Could not have worked out better.

Ran 3 batteries through it since Sunday and all i can say is Fu**ing amazing hovering and stability....After I land, the head continues to spin for about 12 seconds..!!

For reference:
Stock size boom is a tad under 12 1/2"(the black after market boom in picture laying under newly mounted boom is exactly 12 1/2" long. My new boom measures 15 1/4"....This leaves me with tons of room for belt adjustment. I will try and get video posted of it flying soon...

I am officially calling this Heli a KingPigeon V2 450

Peace,

Z
