So, I'm on flight 3 of my new HBK2 and getting things dialed in nice (my first heli / rc flight enable vehicle) due to all the great posts on this board.

THe main problem I'm having now, is my belt slips off almost instantly when flying. The belt looks like it's pretty damn shredded too, which makes me think I already need a new one.
See the below picture for where I'm slipping off at.. I saw earlier posts about people fabricating new parts to fix this... has anyone been able to finish that project and do they have something I can buy from them to help me?

I see how people have replaced stuff near their tail to help fix this, but my tail works great and it tracks fine... it just slips off on this one side and not the other up front.

Any ideas?

Well, I actually figured out how to move the boom back, and to get it real tight it was actually a two person job.. I had a buddy hold onto the boom in a pulled back state, and retightened the 4 screws holding it in there... I'm charging the battery right now for a flight, and we'll see how well it holds up or if it jumps. It appears to be about 20% tighter now then it was... Still... I think a replacement bearing with larger washers or whatever on the ends would be better or something....

CAN SOMEONE HELP..

I just put a esky kit in .. 3100 with esc and 9T Pinion.. takes almost full throttle to lift off.. is it just me or am i just used to nitro.. anyway.. thats not the problem.. when im in the air i cant seem to adjust the tail servo enough to stop the rotation .. i have it as far as it will go . and i have to hold it right stick and keep it there .. i dont know what else to do since there is not more travel for the pitch.. the tail has all it can give... would a larger pinion do the trick since it would make blades rotate faster.. i even had it full throttle and set the pitch of main blades to just lift off ground thinking maybe for speed would give more tail thrust and still no luck.. am i doing somthing wrong.. or should i just put in garbage and stick with my nitro.. i just wanted this to fly in house ... thanks

RC,
Make sure your belt didn't slip off the rollers. That's kind of what yours sounds like if you have to use full throttle to lift off.. Mine was like that too with the belt slipping off. Would also explain the rotation of the tail... it won't spin at full speed if the belt has fallen off.

Otherwise, adjust the tail boom servo forward and aft a few millimeters at a time... until itholds steady with just a tiny bit of trim. I had to move mine about 3 mm's and now the tail holds with about 2 clicks on the trim.

no its not the rollers ..i fixed that before i even flew it.. or even started the motor.. i have adjusted the servo to the full extent. cant go no farther.. im just going and try a 11t pinion ..and see what does...

Well it moves in two directions, you may wish to move it the other way... it only takes very small adjustments adjustments, like minuscule each time.

I see alot of mention about 3100kv motors. All I see for BL motors by Esky the 3800 and 3900kv with a 25A ESC. Now lets have the battery discussion again. Is the stock battery (1000mAh 10C) going to puke and how big do i have to go. Ordered a 1500mAh 12C with the motor. Dave

As for me, I used a TP 2100 15C Lipo with stock motor. Makes you CG balance out, but this adds some weight also. No problem lifting though. I have heard people run stock and 1350 batteries with BL also. I guess someone has to post their battery usage to see.

yeah .. i know it goes both ways..but thats not the problem ..the problem is that is as far as it can go towards the heli itself... so i have to right turn.. it just wants to drift right all the time... didnt do that with the stock motor.. i think im just going to trash it.. and stay with my gas X-cell .... so look in the garbage dumps and you may find it... thanks for trying to help ...

RC_Geeks it sounds like you have too much pitch set for the blade speed. This could be because of your pinion gear. A 10 tooth gear may take care of it. Eleven may be over-kill. It could also be the way you have the ESC setup. Does your ESC have setup for number of lipo cells, auto-detect, PWM? If these settings are set improperly, (say, set for the wrong number of cells or for NiMh) your ESC could be sending the wrong voltage ( wrong pulse width or whatever) to the motor. I have started playing around with a brushless ESC and motor and found one setting ( unfortunately I have no documentation for the Mag 8 ESC) where my motor would not even start spinning until half throttle or more. I then found a setting on cell type ( hopefully 3 cell lipo) that made the motor come alive at two clicks above zero throttle and took off and flew below half throttle. I am still not happy with the settings. Startup seems to be pretty hard and I don't think my battery cutoff settings are correct. Does anyone have programming instructions/settings for a Mag8 Towerpro 30A ESC?
Tom

I have the 3100kv with a 10 tooth and it jumps off the ground with no problems. 9 tooth may not be enough head speed. The tail servo mount will move so that you can get mechanical trim just by moving the entire servo further down the tail or closer to the canopy. You may have to put a little pressure on it as I think that mine may have had a drop of ca to hold it in spot but once it is rotated it is still tight and just move it to the necessary position. Stock battery will be fine with that setup. Just move it forward about a half to 3/4" to balance.

well .. the pitch it right.. i set throttle to full and then set the pitch.. and it still turns left and not right like i said in the last post. the servo is loose and it moves just fine.. i have it as far as it can go toward canapy. but when i take off or when im flying forward it just turns left or tail turns right from behind of course.. .. and because it has no more travel in that direction.. i cant turn it right... so i have to land in a spyro.. lol... looks cool though to land like that..but i would prefer not to.... the esc is a esky and esky 3100kv.. 9t pinion... ill try the 10 and see what happens.. im just tired of working on this problem... been flying 20 years .. and never had a problem like this.. but i have never had electrics helis... thanks for all the help..
