I was able to get these:

http://www.helidirect.com/product_info.php?cPath=78&products_id=3151

to work with a very slight enlargement of the motor shaft hole. Just used an exacto an shaved each side of the hole a little and all 3 gears fit fine.

Looks like the one I'm using...11T. You guys need to check with betapilot before ordering this stuff...he most likely already has it, it's where I got mine.

The original thread starter is Betapilot. He has quite of few parts for the HBK2. He already stated that the Align style pinions will need to have the pinion hole widened slightly earlier in this thread. Unless you can pull & press stock small pinions, the large collar pinions are going to be your easiest way to install pinions.

The above link is the same pinions I have. They work great! The 10T works with no modification. Last night I installed the 11T and it requires you to dremel the hole the pinion goes through in the frame about 1-2mm. Its a 2 minute job and very easy just don't hit the main gear. If your worried just slide a piece of junk metal or plastic between the main gear and the frame to prevent any accidents. Gear meshes great and there is plenty of play in the oblong motor mount holes so that the motor gear mesh can be set.

My opinions on running the 11T gear on the 3100kv vs. the 10T. I had hoped that increasing the head speed might make the trim a little less sensitive from forward flight to hover and when you get one in trim the other is not. No real difference there. Verticle performance is much better. I am not into 3d yet but overall flying was pleasurable. Flight time was a little less on the stock batteries (still probably got 8-9 minutes) and the battery was noticably hotter. Not quite as hot as the stock setup but close and certainly more runtime. I would say if your short on case and going to use up the stock batts then the 10T is the better route. If you are going to put the bird through its paces with 3d or hot laps then its time to upgrade the batt and go 11T. The motor wasn't overly hot with 11T. What I would expect after a 8-9 minute flight. I am really on the fence on this one as I will have the opportunity to fly this in a large indoor building and for that the 10T will be perfect but outdoors with wind and so forth I am thinking the 11T. I can't imagine the 9T gears out there performing well at all. But I could be wrong.

You're echoing my exact setup....3100Kv 25aESC and an 11T pinion. I have great vertical...trim is not a real problem, headspeed is very good. You can reduce generated heat by increasing pitch a little using the pitch knobs but don't use too much pitch because you loose authority in the tail and stability suffers. I have very good authority in 8mph winds when I reduce pitch to increase headspeed, but I do get warm doing that.

We'll I got the esky 3800 motor for it. Does the 3800 stand for the size or speed compared to the 3100? Wood blades are ok right they wont explode or anything at a higher headspeed? Or should I go ahead and get carbonfiber blades? which size do i get?

i am using the cf blades for the cp/pro. they work great, i little shorter but that gives faster head speed.

I'm not sure about the 3100kv/3800kv thing but I'm sure the 3800 has superior speed and torque to the 3100, and requires a heftier ESC to handle the amps. Vertical with a 3800 on a stock HBKII would be awsome because it's pretty good with a 3100.

Blades...up to you. Stock or CF's. I'm sure a minor hit with the 3800 and stock blades will be impressive (LOL).

In idle up mode doesn't the motor spin at 100% power? I don't notice any gain in rpm when pitch goes positive. The dynam speed control doesn't have a governer so I suspect it is wide open. If that is the case then I suspect changing the hover pitch knob will not have any cooling affect on the motor or battery because its no different than the pitch being controlled by the stick. Doesn't that pitch know just kindof work like a end point adjustment and maybe a little like a subtrim for the rotor pitch? I am still learning so correct me if I am wrong. I think the biggest help will be me not trying more than a nose down wide open hot lap. :^) I may open some vents holes on the canopy which drop the temp on my viper 70 batts by half.

I will say I love the gyro on the hbk2. I have not touched it from the stock position and it is rock solid.
