Just changed the motor in my Seawind EP from a 950 Kv to a 1850 Kv I'm going to try it out tomorrow at the lake. I set it on the yard and tried the grass, It's a big diference on grass. I didn't take off but ran it around the yard a little. Hopefuly it will be different on the water. The Team Orion 950Kv 57 g weight was replaced with a TeamOrion Gust MS 1850Kv 48g same prop I'll give a little report when I get back. Should fly better with the weight reduction.

Can someone tell me what type, and size of screw the wing hold down screw is. My kit is missing the screw, and I can not tell what thread is in the fuse as it is buried?

It is a 1.5" long sheet metal screw. Mine was not long enough so I replaced it with a 6-32 bolt and tapped the holddown "nut". Another guy up here did the same. His idea! I would think a slightly longer sheet metal screw would work fine but didn't have one.

The original screw is long enough, but it doesn't sit completely down in the hole.

I put a piece of 1/8" ply under the screw and screwed into it until the screw seated itself properly. Then it screwed into the fuse just fine.

This thing flies incredibly well.

I do a lot of reviews and when the reviews are done, I usually either give the plane to my dad or brother, or I sell them to help pay for all the stuff I have to buy when doing reviews.

But this is one of the few planes that I fully intend to keep!

I just saw my first one fly this weekend at our annual fall fun fly, I figure the LHS's should be sold out by the end of the day.

Well flew the Seawind yesterday with the new motor. All I can say WOW..... Take off from water is in about 20 ft and it goes straight up, also with the added power the tip catching on takeoff seemed to be almost eliminated . Flying is at half throttle, cant wait to try the grass at the club field. My set up is a CommonSense RC 1250 10c 11.1v Lipo, a WOW R/C 30 amp ESC, APC 8x6 electric prop, and a Team Orion Gust MS 1820 Kv motor. All up weight is around 22 oz.
I like the way the Seawind flys, very responsive with the recommended throws, my only complaint is that it just floats forever on landing. I cant for the life of me get this plane to set down at any speed above the stall. It just kinda flys 'til it just plops in the water. I've tried keeping power on and trimming a little down elevator so I have to hold a little up to keep it level at low throttle and it still just flys right past me and plops about 50 ft past me. Its balanced at the recommended point which seems very nose heavy to me. I first tried it at about 1 1/4 inches back from the leading edge it was fine ecept the elevator was twitchy, which is natural with a rear CG. The 1 inch CG flys OK but Dang, I can't seem to nail a smooth landing at all. Any suggestions from other Seawind EP flyers?

Try either 1 1/8" back, or go back to the 1 1/4" and turn down the elevator throws.

Can anyone tell me the best way to water-proof the ESC for the seawind? I am scared to wrap it in plastic or seal it inside a balloon for fear of overheating. The manufacturer recommends placing holes in the fuselage for ventilation (Yaa, like thats going to happen!) but I intend on flying from salt water so waterproofing is a must. Any other suggestions you can offer for salt water flying would be appreciated. WD-40 on the engine???
Thanks in advance!

KMan, what I did was to take a piece of plastic (I think I used a sandwich bag) and wrap the ESC loosely leaving the front and back open so it could still get some airflow.

Then I used regular masking tape under the wings to keep water out (It WILL get in through there otherwise) and finally, after plugging the battery in and closing the canopy, I used scotch tape around the canopy

Well, Tower will probably get them before anyone else. I'd say put one on BO there

Well this might not help but I have had mine on backorder since the end of october of 2007 with tower.
I even got a hold of GP to see what the story was.
They said there has been a back log with the mfg co. and should get it in mid feb.
