I don't know what it is specifically, but the seawinds have always looked rather ugly/strange to me.

Now, they go and make an electric one, out of foam. I guess it won't sink, but they could have done it like the PBY with the glass fuse and built up wing.

O.K. I'll stop complaining now and go sit in the corner.

I hope it doesn't fly like the big one does. I've yet to see one do more than 3 flights without having some kind of landing or takeoff problem. So I'm not a fan of the Seawind either. Looks cool, flys like doodoo

I saw one fly off a grass strip yesterday and it was one of the prettiest amphibian/land flights I've ever seen. He had an Eflite 60 motor with two lipo packs of some sort. It flew very well......

I'll be getting one of those for sure. I wish I had made my larger one electric, may still convert it one day...

The little foamie Seawing is a real winner...and this from a guy that is cutting back on foam...

The LHS shot me a price of 85 bucks...and I could not resist.

Flew mine off grass yesterday..am on the way now to try it in the water.

One has been flown off water already over at R/C groups and got an excellent report there.

I did a mini product review over int he waterplanes area of RC Groups, if you are interested.

Hi Everyone

I just finished the little Seawind last night and will be flying it tomorrow morning. The most interesting thing about this airplanes design is the location of the step. I have the Glow Seawind too, I was always amazed that the step on that plane was at the leading edge of the wing. The Electric Seawind has the step finishing close to the middle of the wing chord at the edge. It also has a trailing V shape to the step that finishes almost another inch to the rear as well.

I have NEVER flown the Glow version successfully on water because of a vicious water hopping. So I am going to scale up this new location of the step on the glow powered model and maybe just maybe I will have an airplane instead of a Rabbit on the water. On land the big one is great, on water it is a Kangaroo....

I have a feeling that this little version one will be a keeper.

Dan

Been doing a few small mods to the Seawind:

1. The GWS outrunner was running too hot, so swapped out to a Balsa Products BP2212-13, (you can buy nearly three of them for the price of one Rimfire.....the BP is 15.95... ..) which is nearly identical to the suggested Rimfire outrunner. It has a 4 bolt mount pattern, so you have to do a small mod to make it fit the three bolt motor mount.
2. Added a little bit of upthrust...shimmed bottom of new firewall about 1/32"
3. Moved the lipo back until the CG is about 3/16" behind the factory suggested.....Some have moved back 3/8".
4. Swapped out to an APC 8-6 Slow fly prop....itis better balanced and performs better than the stock GP prop.

Mine wll now rise off the grass with ease....and it is flying very nicely.

Nothing wrong with the factory suggestions other than price...I think the GP Rimfires are overpriced and of no better quality that the Welguard type outrunners from BP.

Mine had trouble in 3" high grass with the GWS outrunner, but gets off grass very nicely with the BP outrunner.
