I've got an old RS4 Mini Pro and am trying to get it back on the road after being away from the hobby for several years. For right now i'm not sure if I want a LRP Quantum 2 esc, or if I want to go with the Mamba brushless system. Also i'm unsure of what gearing to go with. Are the gears that came with the car 48 pitch? Is it possible to switch to 64 pitch, and if so would this be a good idea or should I just stay with the 48 pitch gears? Also, I know there is a discontinued page for the car on HPI's website, however I'm unsure of where I can order the parts from. I'd like to know where I can get replacement bodies, wheels, tires, belts, etc...if anyone can help me out i'd appreciate it. Also if anyone here is using a Mamba brushless system, i'm curious as to how big the esc is...the rs4 mini is pretty small, and something like the LRP unit would be ideal, but I like the idea of brushless and think that's the route i'm going to take. I'd just like to make sure I have enough room for it on the chassis, first. And I know nothing of these new LiPo batteries...if someone could school me on them, that'd be awesome. From what I understand i'll need a new battery charger for those batteries, and they probably cost a pretty penny as well. Right now i'll probably stick with the good old 3000-3600mah nimh batteries I guess. Any suggestions on where I can order good batteries from online? Thanks in advance for the help!

with ur micro rs4 .. go wit Lipo... and brushless... stop wasting money on different escs.. Brushless and Lipo is the answer. lipo charger starts from $40 to $300 and pack starts from 25s to 50s, and ofcourse you need alum front diff frame if you are gonna upgrade to faster motor. rear ball diff,..... just pm me if you want....

The Mini Pro is a wonderful little car and I had two myself several years ago. The car is very fast when you install a mild mod brushed motor like a 19T or similar. I think going brushless might make the car too fast making control at speed a problem.

The gears are probably 48 pitch and you can switch to 64 pitch if you feel the need. The teeth are finer with the higher pitch and might be susceptible to stripping with low turn mod or brushless motors.

The chassis accepts 6-cell stick packs and any of the currently available 3000 to 4300 packs should be fine. You can try Lipo battery packs but then you'll need a Lipo charger. You can check www.cheapbatterypacks.com online for your packs. There are numerous other places for batteries like eBay, Tower Hobbies, etc...

Ya I think i've decided over the past few days that i'm going to buy the LRP Quantum 2 esc, and i've got everything else needed to get the car working. I might get a few 3600mah packs, too. If I stick with it for a while and enjoy it, i'm considering buying the new Xpress MRR2 Pro Kit, and might go with a brushless system for that car. Check it out at rcmart.com if you haven't already, let me know what you think of it. The kit price is supposed to be 189 USD. http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/newsdesk_info.php?newsdesk_id=338
