I don't want to appear ignorant, but does Hangar 9 offer this plane in two versions with and without engines? If so, how much is the ARF with the engines installed?

with engines was a "first release " promo , most shopes got one for the same price , some shops got smart and charged an extra $169 for that version .
Dont know if that is a regular stock version , but the price without was $399 at my shop and $399 for the one of a kind promo , they did not even know they had one with the free engines lol

When someone gets an electric version flying can you post some vid. I will be using M/A 14"-7 (3) blade counter rotating, one regular and one pusher. Getting ready to set up a test stand and tune the system. The Extreme Flight Torque Revolution motor on 5 cell seems a good fit but may have to trim the props down a bit for proper loading and amp draw. Will post info when i'm done. Doug

LDM-
CorsairJock has started a thread called Hanger 9 B-25: Building and Modifications. This is going to be a build site for his plane and I have already contributed some photos of stuff I am doing with mine. I plan to build Doolittle's plane and I let Century Jet use my plane to design the retracts for this plane. They are pictured on the other thread I just mentioned. I will try to include some pictures of my plane on that site as I build. Hanger 9 seems to have thought this plane through very well. The engine mounts were even slotted so that they could be widened out to accomodate my OS .46's.

I haven't been able to locate this thread on any of the Forums. Is it somewhere under another name?
Thanks

OK, I gotta say it: I question the recommended (by Hangar 9) C.G: 3.75" behind the leading edge, where the chord is about 14.375". That's about 26%, which is far less than the other warbirds that I have (usually 30 ~ 33%) . All them have tapered wings, so that is not an issue.

Top Flite recommends 5" for their B-25, and if we assume that because it is 10% larger: the root chord would be about 15.8125", the C.G. would be 31%. That sounds much more 'normal' to me, so I intend to throw caution into the wind and balance mine at least 4 1/4" back (with gear up), or about 29.5%.

Any other thoughts on this? Anyone else question the CG on this plane?

Keeping warbirds light has always worked very well for me. I especially HATE having to add weight to balance a plane, and I will do whatever I can to prevent having to do so. And it appears to me that while some prefer to build the planes to be 'crash proof': adding things such as double battery packs and other redundant items, adding extra strength to areas that they deem as insufficiency so, I prefer to shed weight whenever possible. LIGHTER planes fly better, and are less likely to crash (in my opinion).

After loosing my plane on spinout I talked to tech at Horizon and they said tere planes are balanced at the recommended point. My posting from Warbirds is below

Lost mine last week on test fly.
Used EVO 36 and all stock setup. 10x4 EVO 3 blade props. No retracts. Two 2500 NiMH batteries with 2 MPI switches with volt regulators.
Two tanks on ground and third tank high speed taxi on grass field.
Take off was good and went to 125+ feet. flew 5 minutes in race track pattern. chopped throttle to observe stall, only got mushy and throttled up. Also slowed 1/3 throttle and put flaps down. Half flap no notice different, full flap little nose up. Every thing Ok. 5 note wind down runway. 2/3 throttle level flight, 100 feet initiated left turn flying into wind, nose pitched up, left wing dropped, stalled and flipped over and started spin down. Cut engines and could not get it out of spin. Straight into lake nose first. Lost fus from cockpit forward. Wing, engines radio and tail OK. Just put new fus on.
I cut throttle because I was thought I had lost left engine making left turn caused flip over. Others said no, both engines going fine. Plane had balanced out on the spot OK with both batteries forward. Radio worked because I was able to cut engines. Batteries and radio battery check out with high voltage.
Flying upwind slowed down and couple said tail was down. Flying down wind level and faster.
Left engine was 10,000 rpm and right engine was around 9800 rpm. I slowed left engine down by radio to match right.
I am going to add half inch to CG for next test flight.

Well, the Horizon website now shows it coming in "Mid-January". I'm waiting too. Already have everthing but the airplane itself....

Don't hold your breath on Horizon's delivery dates. I ordered a PNP 1/4 cub back in April '07. Still waiting for it to arrive.

Just finished mine. I still need to confirm the cg. I may go with 4in. Stock setup with the 36's. Fixed gear, I will add retracts in January. Looking forward to the first flight.
