Talk about a kid in candy store. I arrived home this afternoon with the airplane (with installed 36's)and the set of Robarts on order for less than I would have had in the airplane and the two Saito 62's I was considering. The upside...the 36's are completely enclosed within the cowl. The downside...with the Evo's installed, the cowl is cut for the included muffler and I intend to set the engines up with a couple of Macs mufflers. However I couldn't be more satisfied with Horizon for this little "bonus". Imagine...a company rewarding it's customers with an unannounced free bonus. Now on with the thread.

I've been away from the thread for awhile...These are coming with engines for no additional cost?!?! All of the sudden this bird got affordable!

this bird is no comparison to the top flite version. if you modify the turrets and scratch build it would be ok. i may get one and turn it into a PBJ. my tf bird will be electric and it has a functional bomb bay so lipos at the cg work great! axi 4130/16 and 8s 5000mah for power. bes eleminated and a 6v 3000 mah rx pack.

True enough. The TF version is much closer to scale. However...for 399 I ended up with an airplane and 2 engines. Even if you don't get the engines, with the 250 dollars you save over the TF, you can add as much scale realism to the model as you can dream up. It's doubtful anyone will enter an ARF in Top Gun competition anyhoo. As for how the difference is in the air, I doubt anyone will notice who's model is up there. Some want to build it to fly it. I do admire the TF's "out of the box" (especially the nose art

) looks better, but I've said it before on another topic...who flies an ARF straight out of the box anyway?

As someone else suggested a few posts back: TRY READING THE ENTIRE THREAD! No point in re-stating what has already been said.

My LHS called yesterday to inform me that mine would not arrive until LATE NOVEMBER. I put my order in on Oct 9, just before the official release. Apparantly all that came on the boat from China must have been sold already. What was unfortunate for me was that I spotted one on ebay yesterday morning before I went to work. That one HAD THE ENGINES!. By the time I got home from work and found out the bad news from my LHS, the one on eBay was already gone (sold).

BUT, there was one for sale here at RCU Market Place that I just ordered. Probably without engines, but price is $399 SHIPPED. Had I bought one from LHS, price would have been $400 plus (6%) tax.

SO, if you want and want it soon (before late November), I suggest that you immediately buy it if you see it. There is another one on eBay (without engines), but Buy it Now price is $400 plus about $45 shipping.

I must commend Horizon for attempting to keep online ordering prices comparable to LHS prices. In other words: you usually pay the same price at the LHS as you would anywhere else. This no doubt is a benefit to the LHS, and the reason I originnally ordered mine from one. If the Tower Hobbies/ Great Planes conglomerate worked the same way, there would probably be fewer Hobby Shops going out of business.

Mine arrived today: WITH ENGINES INSTALLED.

Now my dilema: I don't use 2 strokes anymore, and I LOVE the sound and performance of Saitos, and had planned on installing either .56s or .62s. And by the way: since they are already mounted, there are cutouts in the cowls for the mufflers.

I got a chance to see this ARF and handle it yesterday and man its nice! I have to agree with others that its not as "scale" as the TF as the cockpit/canopy sections are lacking but for the money its really hard to beat!

My LHS received 3 yesterday and all were gone within several hours! Might have to get one for myself or simply make due with my Stuka that I got to chase them around

I'll ask again, how is it that guys are walking in off the street and buying Hanger 9 B-25's when there are quite a few of us out here who trying to do the right thing supported their local hobby shop and pre-ordered back when first released. Not to mention the 2 free motors. I don't get upset often but this just rubbed me the wrong way.... I put down a $200 deposit..... Doug Bateman

I agree: it just ain't right.
My guess is a lot of 'hobby shops' (which are actually more of the online type of hobby shops) pre-ordered them awhile back, and thus were the 1st to recieve them. They promptly put them on eBay, or as in my case: RCU Marketplace, and sell them.
In my case, I went to my local hobby shop a few days before the official release. My LHS is small, and probably cannot afford to have such an expensive ARF on their in-store inventory, unless they were pretty sure that it would be sold very soon.
The 'boat arrived from China' and all the 1st ones went out to the people and places that pre-ordered, while the ones that didn't pre-order are now waiting 'for the next boat'.

I really don't think it is Horizon's fault. As stated earlier: I believe they are doing what they can to keep LHSs in business. I don't think that they can control which 'hobby shops' are really local ones, and which ones are more of an online business.

On a side note: I ordered and recieved a 1/48 Accurate Miniatures B-25B "Doolittle Raiders" plastic model kit today. I like to purchase a high quality, detailed plastic kit of RC warbirds that I intend to build, as they are an excellent source of details. In the case of this kit: WOW! This kit has been reviewed by plastic model enthusiests and claimed to be one of the top 5 best 1/48 scale kits of all time, and I can see why. The decal sheet has the numbers for all 16 raiders, meaning you could build any one of the 16 from the kit. Also has Ruptured Duck and other markings for the ones that had such. Also has a booklet which is a copy of the official report Doolittle filed after the raid. Cockpit details are excellent, which is one of the reasons I buy such kits: they give me a better idea of what the cockpit should look like than any books ever could. I will use the cockpit fromthis kit to guide me in installing cockpit details in my H9 B-25. And I will use the decal sheet to determine the size and shape of decals that I will have made for my H9 plane. I'll measuer the wheels to determine what the correct scale wheel size would be for the H9 B-25 (BTW: the H9 B-25 is 1/10 scale).

If any of you want to detail your H9 B-25 out some: I really encourage you to pick up one of these kits. They usually sell for over $45, but I got a NIB one for under $30 shipped (eBay).
