corsair jock dont post that here i did too and rcken removed it cause its selling. i want to know why its such a big deal too. the lhs cant resell them as i dont have boxes ext so what do i do. im not sending the nacelles back for new ones as how do i know ill ever get them back. i can patch the cowls and you wont even tell but id like to put the motors to use for someone

jock is correct on the wheels the aluminum robarts would be too heavy. balance the plane with the gear UP

pettit -> RE: New Hangar 9 B-25 (10/22/2007 12:04:57 PM)

I got my H9 B-25 this past Friday. Took it home, opened the box, ironed out the few wrinkles and started assembly.

Mine too came with the Evolution .36's mounted, tanks assembled and cowls cut out.

Here's how it looks as of Sunday afternoon at 5 PM.

The blue stuff on the wings is painters tape to hold the air intakes in place until the canopy glue dries.

BTW, I went flying all day Saturday.

I'll run the engines tonight.

I had to add 8 oz. of nose weight to balance (battery in the nose too) but overall weight is 13 pounds 2ounces.

timothy thompson -> RE: New Hangar 9 B-25 (10/22/2007 3:54:39 PM)

sold my engines so now i can get the outrunners and esc

wildswan -> RE: New Hangar 9 B-25 (10/22/2007 6:17:23 PM)

She looks lovelly.

BTW, is your nose leg on the right way around as the spring I thought should be at the front?

pettit -> RE: New Hangar 9 B-25 (10/22/2007 6:20:25 PM)

I'll have to check one more time.

wildswan -> RE: New Hangar 9 B-25 (10/22/2007 6:28:57 PM)

Just thought it would bend backwards too easily the way around it looks.

I'm in the UK and have been waiting for this for ages.

End of November I'm told but the US website says December now, have Horizon had too much demand for this?

pettit -> RE: New Hangar 9 B-25 (10/22/2007 6:30:37 PM)

The book shows the coil facing the rear.

Right or wrong, that's how I did it.

dbateman -> RE: New Hangar 9 B-25 (10/22/2007 8:05:04 PM)

Coil should always be to the rear so spring will be in compression when aircraft is landing and the wheels are forced back. this keeps the spring from uncoiling which is difficult to get back to original shape. Doug

timothy thompson -> RE: New Hangar 9 B-25 (10/22/2007 10:52:38 PM)

no retracts dick?

pettit -> RE: New Hangar 9 B-25 (10/23/2007 12:55:49 PM)

When I got home last night, the nose gear leg had miraculously turned itself around with the coil facing forward.

How'd that happen?

I reversed it and it does look better.

No retracts mainly because they're not available from Hangar 9 yet.

General Lee Stupid -> RE: New Hangar 9 B-25 (10/23/2007 6:15:02 PM)

Retracts will make the model look so much better. I hope they make some soon

timothy thompson -> RE: New Hangar 9 B-25 (10/23/2007 6:50:27 PM)

robart has them on order they cant be much different as the wing b-25 retracts as all three the wing tf and h-9 are roughly the same scale

pettit -> RE: New Hangar 9 B-25 (10/23/2007 7:12:56 PM)

Yes, but the mounting spacing and overall lengthg is quite possibly very different.

I tried the Top Flite retracts by Robart in the Hangar 9 and they don't fit at all.

CorsairJock -> RE: New Hangar 9 B-25 (10/23/2007 7:28:20 PM)

My guess is the TopFlite B-25 (which is about 1/9 scale) retracts are the 630 series mains (rated 12 ~ 24 lb) which have 2" wide mounting tabs, while the H9 B-25 (1/10 scale) retracts are the 550 series (rated 8 ~ 18 lb) which have 1 3/4" wide mounting tabs. H9 main retracts bays are 1 7/8" wide, so the 630 series will not fit while the 550 series will.

Since I will be mounting 4" wheels on the mains, I may not like the strut length of the set made for the H9 B-25. Therefor, I am considering just ordering 'off the shelf' Robart retracts and RoboStruts, which ARE available right now, and could even be had for a lower total price than the prices listed by Horizon.

Sent an e-mail off to Bill Fulmer today, requesting Doolittle Raider graphics. Anyone else interested?

timothy thompson -> RE: New Hangar 9 B-25 (10/23/2007 7:46:18 PM)

boy they sure dont make it easy do they

CorsairJock -> RE: New Hangar 9 B-25 (10/23/2007 8:21:21 PM)

IMPORTANT NOTE to those who are purchasing RADIO GEAR for this plane:

Altho not specifically indicated in the manual: the rudder servos can be no thicker than 9/16". This means standard size servos will not fit in the stab!

I have a pair of HiTec HS-81s which should work just fine.

timothy thompson -> RE: New Hangar 9 B-25 (10/23/2007 8:36:01 PM)

thanks for the info jock! saved me time!

wildswan -> RE: New Hangar 9 B-25 (10/23/2007 10:06:20 PM)

Nice pictures, keep them coming.

I've got a pair of the Power 46's ready for this bird.

Also thinking of a sound module, closest I think available is the Wasp radial. B-25's had Wright R2600 radials originally. Well it says radial in both so it must be right.[:)]

Anyone part way through an electric conversion?

timothy thompson -> RE: New Hangar 9 B-25 (10/23/2007 10:43:49 PM)

use two ram radial modules an 2 3 in speakers

I figured that the two (three if installing retracts)micro servos referred to on page 5 went for rudder. I'm going with Hitec HS 85's in mine, 2 of them MG for the rudder.

Now then, does anyone have the inside scoop on when the Robarts are going to be available? I've had a pair of mechanical retracts (not Robarts) on B/O for my H9 P-51 1.50 for over a month now. Still in the parts accumulation stage on mine, so I'm not waiting. Just kinda makes me wonder.

wildswan -> RE: New Hangar 9 B-25 (10/23/2007 11:30:06 PM)

Where do you get these?

I'm looking at http://www.aerosoundrc.com/products.htm

John Redman -> RE: New Hangar 9 B-25 (10/24/2007 4:49:47 PM)

Hey guys,

Just was informed from the puchasing man that the Robart retracts for the Hangar 9 B-25 will begin shipping today. All of them will be out the door by tomorrow. Sorry for the delay on the gear.

Enjoy the bird!!!

wildswan -> RE: New Hangar 9 B-25 (10/24/2007 6:05:04 PM)

Any news on our quota of B-25's here in the UK, I've been waiting for ages?

Jason

f15eagle -> RE: New Hangar 9 B-25 (10/25/2007 5:52:13 PM)

Gentlemen, on the issue of the retracts for the B-25 there is another item to consider. The pictures that I have seen of the retracts that Robart is making for the H9 and Top Fliite models is incorrect. The nose gear is facing the wrong way with the offset strut. They are using a right hand off set strut and it should be a left hand strut. I hope that Robart will realize this and make the correction.

pettit -> RE: New Hangar 9 B-25 (10/25/2007 5:57:33 PM)

That won't stop me from completing both of the new B-25's.

I wonder if you can't just turn something around.

I'll have to look tonight.

I guess its supposed to look like this, right?
