Servocity has a camera already set up for
slinging underneath or on the fuselage of
a plane:

http://www.servocity.com/ServoCity/Products/SuperStar_R_C_Airplane/SuperStar_Camera_System/superstar_camera_system.html

Im not associated with Servocity but I have ordered
items from them and they are great, if I cant get my
Canon A40 to setup right, Ill probably order their camera!

i believe i will order one of these sytems. it is cheaper to do this than build a holder, buy camera and servo plus time hell for 100 bucks i cna be in the air as fast as i can program the radio to the servo!!!

any thoughts on this idea i have come up with!!!

Good luck!

Ive only seen the pics on the website
below the camera, bottom of the page.

Looks pretty straightforward though, and
the servo seems to be in the right place,
my Canon A40 has the switch on the top!

I suppose one more question would be whether the camera has a viewfinder, so that you could use it as a regular digital camera too - and does it focus close, or just to infinity.

Does anyone out there know??

Bob

The camera in the ServoCity Superstar Camera Kit is DualSmart 400 from Crystal Digital. You can get the camera information here.

If you look at the complete specs you will find the resolution of this camera is only VGA (640x480) and has 8MB of internal memory.

This is a far cry from the Aiptek Mini 1.3 and SD PenCams which, at only $50.00 from Aiptek is quite a bargain. Of course you would need to trigger the camera from either a servo or electronic switch but with either of these cameras you would be in the XGA realm.

Regards,
Roger

I ALSO ORDERED ONE OF THESE, SUPER FAST SHIPPING, AND NICE MOUNT. BUT THE CAMERA SHUTS OFF AFTER 30 SECONDS, IF NOT USED. SO IT MAKES IT PRETTY HARD TO TAKE PICTURES, YOU HAVE TO TAKE A PICTURE AT LEAST EVERY 30 SECONDS, DURING TAKE OFF ETC.

yeah, that's really dumb. who ever designed the thing prolly never incorperated the fact that it might take a while before wanting to take a picture.....

nc flyer,
Im sorry you werent pleased with that camera,
As the old saying goes, If I had known then what
I know now, I never would have posted it. But
I know myself and others are having trouble activating
their digital cameras manually, it looked like just the
thing to have one that comes already set up.

Mike

i havent had time to mount it yet due to school and my business. It is that time of year!! It might work well as long as you take a picture every 20 secs or soo. ill eventually try it!!
