I really don't know. Contact Mike Hallam as he ought to have the info for you. I've only heard about the place as I haven't been across the bridge in years.

the radio box has a piece of lexan covering it. its screwed down and sealed with some packing tape. then the cover is bolted on top. its alittle work to get inside. but it should be water proof. i had a hard time finding real thin gasket material. any idea's?

It's not the dollar, it's all of the dollars that go in later! I've been there more times than I'd like to remember but boy, it's fun.

Im very impressed in what youve done with her!
you should go on HG TV and do a show on budget boat builds like they do with houses!

A very inspiring thread ! You've built a beautiful ( seemingly junk ) boat on a good budget and most of all, gained a wealth of knowlege. Well done !

thanks for the kind words. hey ron, why do you suggest flipping the boat? i mean i havent even had it in the water yet.

that being said, mikes got a real nice/fast boat for sale that i really like the looks of. i guess it belonged to a friend in the states that passed away. who knows, maybe you've even seen the boat. its a red hydroplane. i guess mike used to race with the eldery gentleman that owned it.

There is a TV show called Flip This House or something similar in where they take an old house, fix it up and try to resell it making some good money in the process. They call that flipping. There is also a show that does the same thing with old cars.

It's hard for an old fart like me to keep up with today's language, my son explains it all to me. It still sounds funny to hear an old guy saying "Dude"
Flipping (overturning) a boat is nothing new as that's when you've found out that you went just a little too far in your adjustments.

well everything finally showed up just intime to get both my boats in the water this long weekend.

my custom 2 part battery for the small 13" scratch build, my starter, dual charger and 12 volt gel batt.

i cant wait until tomorrow for both thier maiden voyages. i still dont have a charger for the gel battery, but i figured i'd just use the car to run my starter. that is ok right?

i'll take pic's and keep ya posted. thanks again for all your help.

I would carry a car battery for starting if they were about 40 lbs lighter. You should be ok, there's not that much drain on a regular car battery if your boat engine doesn't have too much trouble and your car starts easy. If you can blip your boat and get it going first or second try, your car battery should come back up by itself by the time its time to start the boat again. Good luck and happy boating, I'm looking forward to how the OPS SK-Daddle does for you as I am planning on the same combo and never have run either the hull or the motor yet.
