Hey all,
I am trying to really fine tune my setup on my 86" yak for hovering/torque rolls etc. What would be the best CG for this type of flying on this bird?

Thanks

Just built mine last week and now have 12 flights on it. Found mine to be a little pitch sensitive in fast forward flight just behind the 180mm mark per the recommended measurement method, hovers just fine. At the 188mm mark which is the recommended cg -and where i am at now- still hovers just fine and is smoother in FF flight. Props will make a difference too, some make it easier to hover than others. I have pretty much settled on a VESS 23A for the best all around. PT Models 23/8 carbon does well also, little smoother than the vess but the vess locks in better in hovers and harriers.

take care
zonk

I use a NX 23-08 on my DA 50 but I can't find a sweet spot on the throttle. I'm either pulling or it's too little. I might have to set a throttle curve.

I did just order a Vess 23A to try. Maybe this will work better than my NX???

23A is a great prop. I really like it on my DA50. Try 185mm for hovering. It is a bit nose heavy for walls, but it hovers just fine. To me, this thing almost hovers itself!

I was getting pretty good hovers today out of my NX and I did 3 Harrier landings with it which I had never done before. It was a great day with the Yak!
