I guess we won't see many, if any, F-14's flying in future air shows.

Ya know...

Trip to Tucson for the TAS, and a stop by the boneyard to see if one can scavange an obviously useless but still vaguely recognizeable bit of F-14 fuselage or wing as a bit of history to hang in the shop...

Sounds like a nice way to spend a week, eh?

It's too bad that they can't cut out some critical item, like a wing beam, in such a way that it can't be repaired - them some Tomcats could be given away as memorials and museum pieces after stripping out the parts that they don't want to 'get around'.

There appears to be plenty of museum pieces out there. 'Matter of fact, I just saw one at the Museum of Naval Aviation at Pensacola 2 weeks ago. But I think of how lucky we are to see the WWII types at air shows today. But flying examples of retired jet fighters seem rare. And with the worry of parts falling into wrong hands, it doesn't bode well for future air show appearances of the F-14. I suppose this isn't important to most. But I like seeing them fly. I hope someone with the ability is considering this.
