It seems as though Page Aviation has packed it in. His website (http://www.adrianpage.com/) says:

CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE PLEASE DO NOT PLACE AN ORDER NO KITS OR PARTS AVAILABLE

I was really sorry to see that. I placed an order with Adrian for a 1/4 scale Gee Bee over the phone and he told me that I may be a little too late. He was unsure whether he would be able to fill an order. On another post, another flyer said that Adrian lost his fiberglass supplier and that part were getting too expensive to make the business worthwhile.

I've picked up a set of Wendell Hostetler Gee Bee plans and I'll soon be ordering a laser cut kit, probably from Larry Katona.

It's a darn shame to see Adrian packing it in. He is a class act.

Mike

Very true. I talked with him a few months ago and even then I didn't think he would be able to turn it around. I think his interests have also started to drift elsewhere.

On a better note, I did manage to pick up a Gee Bee Z (adrian's plane) from ebay shortly after I talked to him for $260 shipped. Plane came with a .91 4S as well, so I feel it was a good buy.

Kit has been sitting in my closet as I don't have the time/skill for it right now. When I do get around to building it, I want to duplicate all of my parts and put them in CAD so I have the ability the cut another one later if the need arises.

I was thinking about building this as a scale comp ship, building two of them. First would be a practice plane for checking building and flying, the second would be the all out ship.

Still, it is sad to see Adrian go. He is a great guy, hopefully someone might be able to pick up where he left off.

Maybe we should request that if he feels he will be unable to continue the business, to make his plans and cut files available so others can continue building.

It's a sad day for aeromodeling when a classy guy like Adrian goes out of business. I suppose the reasons are multiple, and I hope Adrian sucseeds in his new ventures. It only strengthens my own resolve to keep building and not support the ARF industry.

Papermachemore,

I couldn't agree with you more. I am quickly growing tired of ARF's myself. If I had more time and experience in building, I wouldn't but another ARF.

Fly safe and have fun!!

I just spoke with Adrian this morning asking him about his business as I am interested in his 80" Super Cub. You guys have captured it pretty accurately... he sounded very forelorn. What I took away from the conversation is that first, the exchange rate was hurting him terribly ($1 US = 1.36 CAN down to $1 US = 1.05 CAN) and second, the ARF explosion is now to a point that there just aren't any orders. He was getting his kits made in batches of 30 so that was sort of the magic number, and he did mention that he had an issue with fiberglass supply. Even if he got the orders, he said it wouldn't be worthwhile as it doesn't make sense to do the work if he is going to lose money. He didn't say make money! Would people buy his kits if he raised his prices... they are great kits and maybe they could command a premium, I don't know.

He said he would give it till the Fall, but he also added before we hung up that he was extremely doubtfull. Hey are there enough Adrian Page kit builder lovers out there to convice him to continue?

Does anyone know where I might be able to pick up his Super Cub kit?

Hi,

I put up a post about 2 hours ago but I think it disappeared into the never never. Here goes again.

I'd love to do one of Adrian's 1/4 scale R2's and I have to admit to 'perving' on Adrian's site with dreams of someday building that plane. If the opportunity came along I'd think about it long and hard, knowing that there might only be one chance (how non-commital is that? Sorry Adrian).

Anyways, for those interested in scratch building, plans for Adrian's smaller Gee Bees still appear to be available through RCM:

All the best,

Joel
