Tracon,

Saw your bird on your website. Beautiful! By the way, did you use silicon to attach your clear windows to the fuse? I don't like the mess with using silicon. Would canopy glue or another adhesive work well on the fiberglass. I haven't experimented yet.

thanks

Tracon -> RE: New CMP Cessna 182 .52 size (8/30/2007 6:39:38 PM)

I was really careful and just went with the good old 5 min epoxy...

This seems to be holding pretty good... knock on wood !

rcluver -> RE: New CMP Cessna 182 .52 size (9/4/2007 5:56:25 AM)

damon, I used canopy glue on mine, seems to be holding so far.

Tracon,

How did you remove the CMPro decal on the cowling? Did you go back & clear coat that area after you removed it?

Tracon -> RE: New CMP Cessna 182 .52 size (9/7/2007 12:08:15 AM)

Yep....

electricjett -> RE: New CMP Cessna 182 .52 size (9/7/2007 1:38:57 AM)

Can you tell me what size motor this is?

damon -> RE: New CMP Cessna 182 .52 size (9/7/2007 5:11:50 PM)

Tracon,

could you detail how you removed the CMPro decal on the cowling for the layperson.

thanks

sdcranford -> RE: New CMP Cessna 182 .52 size (9/19/2007 6:45:03 AM)

I would also like to know how to remove the CMPro decals.

Tracon -> RE: New CMP Cessna 182 .52 size (9/19/2007 10:53:55 PM)

If you're really careful, you can scrape through the clear coat and use your nail to scrape it off and then reclear coat over the area...

Sorry I took so long to get back to you...

I've been away...

Sam

Tracon -> RE: New CMP Cessna 182 .52 size (9/26/2007 2:34:31 PM)

Hi Guys,

I Got a dusk flight in last night...

With these new lights from "Lazertoys" my Cessna looks pretty realistic taxiing around on the tarmac and flying around...

I tried something new today, I programmed in some mixing in my flaps with the elevator...

Now when I drop my flaps, I get about 25% of down elevator, this helps to stop the plane from climbing to the stars when I drop the flaps..

After initial tests, I found 25% to be a little too much so I dialed it down to about 18% and now it works awesome !!!

Ya drop the flaps now and she maintains her altitude and slows to a crawl...

I love this plane !!!

How are you guys making out ??? everyone here has gone really quiet around here...

All the best,

damon -> RE: New CMP Cessna 182 .52 size (9/27/2007 3:51:58 PM)

Tracon,

What size prop did you use?

thanks

damon

Tracon -> RE: New CMP Cessna 182 .52 size (9/27/2007 7:04:14 PM)

APC 2 Blade 14 X 10

damon -> RE: New CMP Cessna 182 .52 size (9/27/2007 7:51:08 PM)

thanks.

By the way, what part # and style of lights did you install with lazertoyz. I'm looking at that right now, & wanted to get the same package.

Simracer29 -> RE: New CMP Cessna 182 .52 size (9/27/2007 11:27:08 PM)

Here is my bird ready for her maiden,O.S 46 AX, Ram Nav lights and Ram landing lights controlled by servo on retract switch......lol. My only problem occured when it came time to balance her, the instructions say 68-73mm mine is balanced at 78mm which is 31% of the wing cord,I have always balanced all of my airplanes between 28% and 33% of the wing cord. Here is the kicker even at 78mm i still had to add 6oz to the nose and that has me concerned. I read were Tracon added 6oz,but his was electric, I don't know why mine was so tail heavy I have 2 9 volts for the lights and the reciever battery are all under the gas tank as far forward as I can get them. I did nothing to the back of the plane.

Tracon -> RE: New CMP Cessna 182 .52 size (9/28/2007 12:20:43 AM)

Nice work Simracer !!!

Nice picture also...

I balanced mine much closer to the front...68 MM and added the 6 oz...

I felt a lot better staying to the front of the CG number than risking being too far back...

Mine flies awesome...

Good Luck on the maiden...

Sam

Tracon -> RE: New CMP Cessna 182 .52 size (9/28/2007 12:24:50 AM)

Damon,

Have Dan make you a custom set...this is what he did for me...

They don't make the wires long enough in the sets advertised on their website...

Here's the numbers I used:

Specs:
1 LED for Starboard (Right) nav light in green with a wire length of 40"
1 LED for Port (Left) nav light in red with a wire length of 40"
Both being connected to 1 point with a connector
1 connector from the light controller with 12" lead for the wing connection
2 solid white LED lights for my nose landing lights with a wire lengths of
30"
1 red blinking strobe for the tip of my tail with a wire length of 40"
5 LEDs total and connectors in the specified locations.

Sam

damon -> RE: New CMP Cessna 182 .52 size (9/28/2007 2:28:42 PM)

Tracon,

thanks for the specs. How much did that package cost you?

damon

damon -> RE: New CMP Cessna 182 .52 size (9/28/2007 3:08:12 PM)

Tracon,

Another question: Are you satisfied with the hingepoints supplied for the control surfaces? I was thinking with going with some Robart hinges that look a little more beefy. However, I don't like the idea of enlarging the holes & making the cutouts on the surfaces more noticeable.

If you think the supplied hingepoints are adequate since you've already flown, I'll probably stick with them.

thanks.
