I blew the engine (mach .15) in my xxx-nt sport and I wanna replace it with a bigger one. Anyone know of a bigger engine that will bolt right in to the xxx? Or a way to modify a bigger engine to go on it. I have a dirt demon with a .26 that I'd love to swap engines with. Thanks in advance for any replies.

I'll tell you this much: Dropping in a quality .12 or even .15 will be better than dropping a .26 in. With the .26, you'd blow the tranny, eat spurs, it won't fit, and if it did, you wouldn't be able to go more than 5 feet without spinning out

Go for the OS .12TZ or the RB V12. Both have way more power than the truck can handle.

Where you at Doc?

Thanks for the replies. I'm a newb to the rc scene. I almost picked up an os .15 yesterday, but wanted to hold out 'til I got more info. I'd really like an upgrade from the mach .15. Is there a .18 that will fit? Forgive my ignorance, but wouldn't a .12 be slower?

Not at all. A high quality .12 like the TZ or the V12 will have just as much (or more) HP and have a higher max RPM. I have both those engines and have to dial the end point on the throttle so that it only opens about 60%. At full its a wheely machine, and the back end likes to swing around to the front.

Where at in OR are you? You should come down to our track in Eugene, unless you're in Umatilla or something...

Again, forgive my ignorance, but wouldn't a .15 TZ, or .18 TZ (or V15/18?!?) be faster than the .12? Is your engine in a xxx-nt, too? Thanks again for the replies, I just wanna make sure when I spend my loot I'll be goin faster not slower. By the way I'm down here in Medford. Would love to race around a track, but I gotta get an engine first.

Actually, no. The .12tz lists at 1.5hp and the .18cvr is 1.35.

The .12TZ is a full on race engine, and OS gets everything that they can get out of that displacement. The same will go with the RB V12. And yes, I use those in a xxx-nt AD2. I could not imagine putting anything with more power in there. Absolutely no need whatsoever. Those things are total screamers.

One of our club members is from Medford (or Roseburg maybe?). And a few of the Sutherlin guys come up here to race - as well, we go down to Sutherlin. Feel free to shoot me a PM or Email (just click on my name) with any ?'s about the xxx-nt or racing in the PNW.

That thing would be fast with an O.S. .12tz speed tuned.

I can tell you from racing one for years that a good 12 will out run most 15's on any track. You dont need all the torque that most 15's put out you need the rpm's of a good 12 they come out of a corner a lot better, these guys know what their talking about and if you were to put a big block motor in it you could never tune the truck to any track. It will throw the truck out of balance too much weight

Once again I'm a newb! I do all of my drivin out front of my house. I've never even been to a rc car track, so I'm not really concerned with cornering. My major concerns are with acceleration and top speed. Are you guys saying that the O.S. .12 is faster than the stock mach .15 that came with the xxx? I just checked out the O.S. website: which .12 should I be looking at (one was pre-tuned?)? Thanks again for everyone's assistance. I truly appreciate all the input I've gotten.

The regular .12tz will have GOBS more power than the mach .15. The tuned version should be really sick. Again, the .12tz is SO powerful that I have to limit the throttle so that it wont flip over (high traction) or spin the back end around (lower traction) when I hit the throttle. I have to utilize a ton of negative exponential rate, end point at 60% as well as the traction control on my radio just to keep the back end from trying to get ahead of the front with the .12TZ. Even if there was something more powerful, it would be a waste IMO.

Ok, ok! Looks like I'm gonna go with one of the O.S. .12. Thanks for the help! Got a couple of more questions. Will they both bolt right in? I saw a couple of O.S. engines at the local hoppy shop (good luck getting anything in Medford, OR) and they had shorter shafts than my stock motor. Which leads to my 2nd question: Anyone know of a good reputable source for one of these engines?

Dr., In the rc world, a smaller engine will rev much higher than a larger one. So a .12 will rev higher than a .15. But a bigger engine will have more torque. But with the little 2wds, this just makes it harder to control.

Sorry guys! The ONLY engine I could find locally that would bolt right in was the O.S. 18cvr. I'm very impatient when it comes to spending money. I WILL end up get a .12 in the future, but I just wanted to get up and running asap. I paid $110 for the engine, new. Anyone know where I can order the O.S. .12 from and how much it'll cost. Thanks again for all of your guys' help (even tho I didn't listen, YET!). Thanks for helpin out a newb!

Cottage Grove Yamaha and R/C 541-942-3335. Ask for Richard. They will mail to you if you want. If you must get it off the internet try Ebay for the best price. Amainhobbies is good too.
