Hey Mike... You are right!
Sometimes its NOT worth it. After looking at recent postings here, I have decided not to let things get under my skin. Its more than obvious that some guys just dont have a clue and may never have one.
Im just glad that after 30 years we are now jumping on the band wagon! You WILL get your (scale) P-51B.... I also hear that the Gotha 50 is a hot plane for 2008... cheers!

1/4 scale Yak-3, Tempest, P40N, IL-2, Fairy Firefly, Fairey Barracuda

Problem with last 3 is the min number os sales required to hit your numbers in the biz case. I do think the Yak-3 is a very appealing bird that would sell very well as a 1/4 scale job, around the 96" span.

Just the biit different, very graceful lines with a bit of mean streak to it.

Best of luck keeping all the experts happy on this one mate.

Merry Christmas
cheers
Peter

Peter,

I'm in agreement with the Russian bird.

Dino & PJ, do a Russian bird. I'll donate time to help ya make it right! The good news is most of the Russian birds had the Clark Y or YH airfoil making the wing nearly the same as the Miester-Scale wings of today.

The Yak-3 used the Clark YH at 14% at the root and 10% at the tip, making a rather easy to build wing.
The MiG-3 used the Clark YH at 14% at the root and 8% at the tip, with a middle panel and the outer wings making a quick building wing that can be made in three parts for easy shipping.
The LaGG-3 used the NACA 23016 at the root and 23010 at the tip which makes it a bit more difficult and not quite the best flier for a kit. (if I'm not mistaken this was the same airfoil used on the P-38 but using a different tip, 4406 or something like that)
The La-5 used the same airfoil as the LaGG-3.

Thus either the MiG-3 or the Yak-3 would make a good choice in my book. The Yak-3 has been modeled a few times, Patrick McCurry, Jerry Bates and Red Star RC.
The MiG-3 has only been accurately modeled by IMPScale (1/5th) and Romain Research (1/4th). The IMPscale one is rather accurate lines, the RR one needs a little work, but it's still mostly decent.

Some other planes for thought:

Hienkel He-100
Messerschmitt Bf 108 Taifun
Henschel Hs 126

I vote the Yak-3, simply because there is one about 20 kms at Archerfield aerodrome for me to go stickybeak at.

O.K. - I won't get my hopes up for these, but I really like alot of the WWII twins - most rarely kitted big/well - eg:

Heinkel 111
Ju 88
Beaufighter
Beaufort
Mossie

but I'd settle for a nice, big, ACCURATE Spit Mk1a that didn't need half a church roof to balance it. (and an Aussie distributor)

Of course, a large Lancaster would be just IT, but again I'm dreaming......

Cam,
mate you don't want much. There is a huge B-17 being built just up the hill from me, 219 inches span and 4 x DA-50 for power.

cheers
Peter

Are there fiberglass fuselages available for the Meister designs, or are they only built-up? Also, is there any major difference between the P-40 "B" and the "C" models? It looks to me that the fuselage is a bit longer on the P-40 "E", which is what most designers model. I'd like to see a large Mig 3 too...

Anybody?

Dino,

I know that this is the Warbird forum, but would you ever consider doing some Golden Age models in say, quarter scale? I'm thinking something like the Gilmore, or the Hughes racer, or something from Howard, or even (ahem) a Quarter Scale Waco YMF? I would take the first one of those.

Dino and PJ already said that they are in the process of producing glass fuses for all the lines. They already have them for the P-47 and the ones for the Fw 190 are due soon after the 1st of the year.

Guess I should have been more specific
Do they make a Miester 109 fiberglass fuse?
Or will they in the future?

Hi Bill,
Thanks for your consideration but the short answer is not in the near future. The company is structured around Warbirds. Primarily because thats our passion. I need to have the passion for the designs to manufacture them. Theres no fun spending time on something that doesnt peak your interest....I think you understand.
