I've just finished testing the amazing Zlog Altimeter which records altitude with a resolution of 1 foot. It is only the size of a couple of postage stamp and weights less that 0.3 oz. I attached one to the base of the Draganflyer using a little velcro as shown in the pictures. I then took it for a three minute test flight up to around 70 feet with a rapid return to ground. The sample rate was set to 2 times per second but you can set that to several times faster or slower. It has a small interface cable which allows you to plug it in your computer usb port to display the recorded data. The graph shown includes the raw data plot as well as the drift adjusted plot. After 3 minutes there is about a 6 foot absolute error which can be detected and removed. It also has a real time output serial port (BB_DF can guess what I'm going to do with that).

Here is the Zlog info link: Recording Altimeter

Here is another altimeter similar in size to the Zlog.

Interesting lower cost alternative. However, with the time stamped logging feature, a display which shows highest altitude, auto zero calibration at recording start and real time output for a potential altitude hold control, I think the Zlog is a keeper.

Thanks for the link. It is interesting to see what was going on with the DF a year ago. Sounds like there was more interest back then than now.
