Gee .... my props don't stay still long enough for the color to matter. I spray the tips yellow or white ... but I can use a $1 can of Krylon to do that.

Thanks, Zagnut. I mostly use APC props and the dye is a good answer for them. I like the looks of MAS props, but never found one that performed well over APCs.

Wonder if this works with Bolly props too. Let us know if you try those.

By the way, when using RIT dye it is good add some blue to the dye to keep the end result a real black color and without a sheen of something else.

Enough on the blond joke this might be worth a try on my gray graupners martin
on a more serious note I think some where on graupner instructions it mentions boiling them in water when they are older to keep then from becoming brittle the nylon must adsorb a small quantity of moisture as most plastics do become brittle with age makes sense so I guess you can condition your prop and dye it at the same time

There is nothing ugly about a nice clean and GREY, APC.
I regularly wash away the nasty green stains on the tips caused by long grass so to regain all the grey splendor!
I'm not alone.

Green stains not an issue at the Flying Gators field we have a 1600ft runway and use a tractor with gang mowers but a little "lumpy" for those 3 inch wheels, lumps not good for props
the loss of a $4 prop not a big deal in a day of flying hence my wood zingers martin

Bla, don't forget about the green right wing. Oh, that sounds backwards doesn't it?, It's not an issue around here now as most of our grass is dead.

My APCs tend to have quite a few red streaks on them, just ask them at the hospital emergency center and they'll tell you how they got there.

I'm wondering if Nerf foam is a good material for propellors.

An APC 15x4W took a couple of my fingers apart over two months ago and I'm still waiting for the scars to heal properly.

On the bright side, I'm 53 and the nurse at the hospital said that I have the recuperative powers of a man twice my age.

Woohoo!

Bruce,

That does not sound too optimistic...106 years old...

...Are you sure she did not say 'half your age'???

Anyway, start by removing the casting slag on any and all props - the trailing edge too.

And properly using the back-flip method (or the spinner twirl) will never have your fingers, simultaneously occupying the same space as the prop's blades.

All my props are either coarse (from rubbing against the runway...), or green streaked (...the grass)...Never red...
