Does anyone have a source for WW1 wheels that are not the baby buggy 12 spoke type and are not a kit like Arizona Aircrafters.I am in the final stages of my Ron Weiss 1/3 scale Fokker triplane and am not happy with the baby buggy wheels cause for one they are a bit too small at 10". Also something with more spokes and air inflatable would be prefered. Any input would be appreciated..SteveD

Just a thought..I am not familiar with the plane you are building but the se5 had cloth covered spoked wheels...if yours did too then would it be possible to use those tiny air inflated bicycle wheels (around 12" and put a cover over them with fake spokes behind the covering to simulate the correct amount on them?

I don't know the specs for the wheels on the DR-1, but I think 10" might be a tad too big, but the proportions look pretty good in your pic. 10" would be a 30" wheel on the full size plane, and I believe most WWI wheels on fighters were *around* the 25" range.

Jonnycart is correct about the wheel covering, as you might well know, being fabric. I seem to recall that there were also hard wheel covers made for some planes, but I might have misread this somewhere.

Finding a 10" spoke wheel with enough spokes might be difficult, and Arizona Models might be your only option... But they are so pricey!

Anyway, I wouldn't go bigger than 10", and might even be tempted to look for 9".

Nice lookin' plane.

Try Reid's Quality Model Products, 315-548-3779. E-mail: dreid@epix.net They have a good 10" spoked wheel with plastic covers.
