Hello, I just got my t maxx used and am having a hard time tuning it in. If I run it around at a decent speed, it seems to go good, blue smoke, good temps, etc... And then out of nowhere, after opening it up, my temps rocket? Once or twice Over 300, so then I richen it way up and then have really bad power but more reasonable temps. i have tried med, med hot, and hot plugs and am just getting very frusturated. Also, i dont hear second gear kick in all the time, seems like it bogs when it should be hitting second. Is this because I am running too rich?? Thanks guys

first check your air filter, make sure your not all stopped up,gota have good air. had a 3.3 i couldn't cool down & bearing was gone bad. mke sure every thing , truck & engine are nice & freed up. like the brakes were on or something.if all that is ok then start all adjusements at base settings, 4 turns out on high side, flush on low side,& idle set at 1 mm open. this works for me when i start on something new. hope this helped, rbb

Which Maxx do you have? I also have problems w/heat on my 2.5 Maxx. Are you running w/or w/out body? Cut out the back window and around motor, also cut out front window or at least make a 1" or 2" hole in it for ventilation. What about fuel I would reccomend 20% top fuel, a lot of people complain about it but it works for me. Also a larger cooling head helps alot! I just got a ACNCM Pro 1 head for my 2.5, and my temps droppde like 30 degrees. And they say for the 2.5 that between 220 and 270 is fine, even though the manual and video said 270 is overheating. Traxxas told me over phone that 220 to 270 is the standard running temps! They told me to get rid of the on-board temp guage and tune according to the engine signs: steady smoke, consistant smooth sound, no smoking heads!

Good luck!
