A bit more progress, the strakes are cut, hope to glue them on tomorrow.

The strakes on and hope they come up ok. Check out the hi tec jig to hold the side ones down.

looks great steve the zen copy looks nice ive heard that wid mods the coil will not accept the revs so you may need to get a zen coil for it so once it starts to get the revs that coil can handel it as some coils have rev limits.

Mart, I spent 2 hours on the net yesterday, looking at steakes and where they are placed. some go to the back and some stop short. I thouth i would try it.
Matty c, Thanks for that, If it starts to break down at high RPM i will go straight to the coil.

If it were me I would try it without the strakes first. All the strakes do is supply lift to get the boat out of the water. With enough power they may not be neccessary. I don't have any strakes on my 48" mono with a Zenoah and I still have more lift than I want. With too much lift the boat will become unstable at higher speeds. Stopping the strakes well forward of the transom is one way of controlling excess lift on the stern of the boat. Doug

You can always sand them off later if it's unstable at high speed. Try it and see what happens. Doug

The strakes set well over night. Today I did alot of cutting,shaping and sanding and even got time to give it a nose job.
