Hi,

I have build Fokker DR-1 of Balsa USA 1/4 scale and in test flight I was in problem and CRASH !!!.
The Fokker start "be erect" and move up all the time. Even when I move the remote control set-off to full Down, still the airplane move up. The only way to move it down was close littele bit the throttle.
Before I flight it, i check the balance and it was ok. I build the kit step by step about 7 mounth and use Zenoah 26.

Do you familiar this kind of problem ? do you know the reason of this ?

Thank you in advanced,
Ofir

I have a DR-1 and several biplanes. They all tend to want to climb more then single wing planes. I have run into this problem myself when testing planes and usually it's due to Wing incedence. usually positive on the top wing.

i have the same aircraft and almost lost it on the test flight because of the problem , it has to do with the lift of the three wings and the light weight aircraft , if you have a computer radio start by setting up a program that mixes in some down elevator at 1/2 throttle and above start with 5% elevator and only at 1/2 throttle and above , i also recommend increasing the downthrust of the engine i set mine to 3 degrees down and 3 degrees right thrust , and it still requires a little elevator mixing to throttle input , the reason is as teh air speed increases so does the lift of the wings , nick ziroli actually has the leading edge of the horizontal stab a few degrees higher than the trailing edge to offset thsi condition on his DR-1 try it and it will fly fine i have had mine now for 6 years and dont forget right rudder on take off

I increase the downthrust of the engine to 4 degrees down and 3 degrees right thrust, Also I increase stabilizer to 2 positive degrees and the highest wing also to 2 positive degrees and its helps a lot. Finely I could fly the Fokker-DR as real plane.

i wouldnt increase the incidence of the upper wing leave it at zero or even give it 1 or 2 degrees of negative , by having negative incidence in the upper wing it continue to have lift after the others stall at low speed ,with positive incidence it will stall before the others
