Check the YS support forum, there's a couple recent posts on props for the 140DZ. I used to run a 17x12, but went down to a 17x10.

What ? 17x12 on a 140 DZ you're kidding. right ? If you want the motor to last a long time, you do not want to over prop it with such a large propeller. Period

Hi yepe

What is your pattern ?
Propeller must be adapted to engine and fuel but also to the pattern (weight ...)

I used APC 16x12 on 140DZ with 25% nitro and APC 17x12 on 160DZ with 25 % nitro on my pattern Partner (4600g).
I don't know rpm. I think it's not important to know rpm.
The better test is to do F3A program.
Regards

Thanks papone. My plane is a CA eclipse 4900 grams on the weight. Right now I'm using 16x12 apc, and its under power compared to my 160dz on a Brio. I'm having a hard time flying P07 squence. The needle valve setting 1 1/4 from close, shall I close it to 1 turn?

Hi Yepe

160DZ is more powerfull. But 140DZ is well for an Eclipse.
The needle valve setting is 1 1/2 from close on my engine. I prefer to open needle valve;
so plane accelerates in the verticals.
How many flights or duration has your engine ?
An important point for power is the sealing of rotative valve in the back of engine. This rotative valve must be smooth and fix very tighten.
regards

Thanks again Papone,
This engine was newly rebuilt by Ricard Verano YS performance. I tried 1 1/2 before rpm is only 7800 with 16x12 apc. Tried 1 1/4 close to 8000 rpm. If I could get close to 8500 it would be great. My fuel is 30% CP, btw I did not notice any adjustments at the back of the engine. What does rotative valve looks like. The only modification I've done is removing the venturi inside the carb. Thanks

While I agree the 17x12 was probably too much prop for the 140DZ, I never had a problem with it. I went down to the 17x10 just to reduce speed (I'm new to the 4-strokes so I'm still working on my throttle management a lot).

Try 16.5x12w, you should get at least 8,300 to 8,400 with CP 30%.

APC 17x10 narrow with 30% Powermaster DZ fuel - 10lb 8oz airplane.
The YS DZ's seem happier when you let them rev a little and don't load them
down too much. You'll notice they will run considerably cooler with the lower
pitch prop also.

Hi Yepe

I just want to say if your engine has no power, may be sealing of rotative valve is bad.
But you have not this problem. Rotative valve is Part B on this schema

I ran the 16.5X12W APC on my 140Dz's. Good combo.
