Good choice, Hammers.

You can for sure fly that thing at Anderson on a football field and be just fine.

Murchison is more than plenty for the Cub.

You'll be happy with the purchase.

BEST beginner 3 channel RTF trainer for the money.
Practice and practice takeoffs, turning back to you and bringing it in for a perfect landing. Don't try to get too fancy too fast. There's so much this plane will teach you if you will be patience and treat it with TLC.

Why not keep us informed with pros and any cons as you go through the learning curve.

Well, I've got the bird all put together, charged the 7 cell and the 8 cell on the wall charger that came with the plane (after draining them). I noticed the 7 cell got hotter than heck. The 8 cell did not get anywhere near as warm. I wonder if maybe the 7 cell has a bad connection... causing it to heat up? Trimmed up the plane by sight. I had to change then length of one of the control rods by rotating the clevis a few times to make sure the sight trim was close to center with the trim tabs on the TX. Did a short taxi down the driveway and back. This was all yesterday.

I've been flying off and on this week using FMS and the controller that I got from Esky. Great investment. I had been flying with the super cup model. (yes that is spelled right). It was posted that it was similar to the Super Cub. Well anyway, I found it a challenge. I changed the model so there were no alerons, just rudder, elevator, and throttle. Aerobatics were easy and fun... but I had to be practical and practise landings a lot. I found that I was having a hard time getting it to line up on the Runway for landings just as I wanted... even at half throttle. Finally, tonight I grabbed the super cub model for FMS on OZRCBoy's site. World of difference... now after all that practise with the super cup, the super cub was so easy to fly and land. Now I feel much more confident. Its so much easier to fly, and turn, and is so docile. I'm much less worried about my maiden... now that I've had sim time with the right model. hahah See, after flying the super cup in the sim and thinking that I actually had to concentrate and pay really good attention on the landings, I was nervous about flying my real model. But as I said, now I feel much better since I'm using the right model in the sim. I'm ready and rarin' to go.

The problem is that some crappy weather has been moving into Austin. I doubt I'll get a zero-wind day this weekend. So, I will most likely have to put off the maiden flight.

I've also really enjoyed the super cub thread. SO much information. I've only read maybe 20 of the 170 some odd pages. Maybe after I beat up this plane and learn to fly it.... I might be interested in painting it. Some of those paint jobs look really nice. But I'm wondering... did they take off the decals, paint, then reapply the decals? Or did they simply paint over the decals and then the paint doesn't stick to the decals or they wipe it off? Bah... thats all secondary and not something I really need to concern myself with for now... but I was just curious.

Anyway... excitment building. Have plane, ready to fly. woohoo
