I know there are a few threads on this plane. I would like to know some personal thoughts from those who in fact have built it. I will be picking one up tomorrow to try out. I will be using an O.S. 10LA and the micro RX and servos accordingly. Does the kit take long to build? This is the first built-up plane that I have built in about 15+ years. Currently I mainly stick to ARF's and S.P.A.D. planes. I just wanted to try a kit again.

I know there is some smack talk out there about the O.S. LA line of engines...I actually like the .10-.15 size LA's. They are very powerful for their weight. I put a header from a Traxxas T-Maxx on mine w/a short length of silicone tubing to direct the exhaust oil. Man, it is REALLY loud and abnoxious, and screams! Fits nicely in a cowl too due to T-Maxx header.

Only thing I have heard bad about the LA engines is they don't make the same power as the higher end engines, I like them for sport planes. I have A couple of 46.
In the HOB P-51 they have you run the bent wire for the aileron controls, not A great idea. Use the L shaped control arm like they use in Control Line models with A straight rod to them and another straight rod out to the aileron control horn.
The kit doesn't take long to build but it is so small and the engine compartment gets A bit tight when you need to get your fingers in there. I just did A rebuild A while back for A friend. More of A big repair on A small plane.

I like the LA engines. The only complaint would be their price tag. The price (MSRP) is a little high when compared to a good ball bearing engine -- the power is compromised too. The little .10LA I have is a real screamer with 6x3,6x4, and 7x3 props. I even stuck the thing in a ducted fan unit designed for .07-.09 engines -- it also worked very well in this set up. I was thinking that a .10FP carb may fit the carb throat on the engine...I would like to have a way to set the idle since the .10LA has no idle set screw or fuel/air mix screw; it is set by simply allowing the barrel opening to open enough for an idle.
