I am seeing alot of pics of mts that have zip ties running over the top of the heat sink What Are These For? Thanks, drew

They are to protect your investment!

If you haveno body on and your car flips over.. guess what gets scratched first? Your engine's heatsink!!

The ziptied are an attempt to protect the engine head from scratches.

Thats about it I think.

no chance of them melting?
i dont know what temp they melt at but i guess its higher than any nitro engine but i figure id ask

elbowcreek -> zip ties (3/9/2003 8:01:15 AM)

No melting they work great at protecting your investment from getting all scratched up I have them on all my nitro trucks

how do u put them on a .21 6 bolt OFNA/Picco O-1 BP engine?

adeoliver -> zip ties (4/16/2003 1:31:00 PM)

I spent $55 on my Nova Race Pro cooling head for my .247 & $5.00 on a bag of 100 ties, so zip ties are a key factor in taking care of those exposed peices.

Just run a zip tie through each key slot on your head and tighten it down, run the pointed end from the outside of the head to the inside on the top fin, you will more then likely have to remove them each time you take the head off, if you ever need to, but zipties are cheap, and save you from haveing to replace a bent/cracked or badly scard head.

dang, thats a good idea, wish i would of heard about that before my brother flipped the savage without the body on it.

LOL.

I'm also thinking..

I'm gonna "paint" a later of super glue on my heatsink. This stuff gets pretty hard and maybe it'll keep the heatsink from getting scratched up? ITs also invisible so you dont have the "zip tie crown".

LandShark -> zip ties (4/16/2003 7:36:17 PM)

will the glue redcuce the efficiency of the headsink?

BUGGIES_R_US -> zip ties (4/16/2003 9:13:49 PM)

Well the air is always flowing horizontally and since thats the case, I dont think it will.

Its very hard to zip tie my engine's head and even if I can, it'll look like crapo destroying the beautiful italian architecture of the heatsink :P
Any ideas? I've included a pic.

Its an offroad motor but I'm gonna try running mine onroad lol

Rumor has it, people have seen Buggies cuddled up with his rossi at night...

The Zip ties hold it off his body so the drool doesn't mess it up...
