Mike,

I bought this engine last fall . I have just recently finish the model it is in. I have flown the model enough to run about 1/2 gallon of gas thru it. I am using fresh gas with 32:1 oil mix. I am using a Menz 26X8 prop and a 1650 4cell Nicad igniton battery .I am having the following problems with it :

1.) The low needle is very sensitive , I can not get the mid range set , it is either too lean ( hesitates or stalls on acceleration) or it is too rich and burbles in the air and will only clear out if you go full throttle . This is a real problem because I want to fly 3-D with this model but the mid range is not smooth enough , it is "on or off"with dead spots between idle and full throttle.

2.) I can get it to start fine the first start of the day, but starting it after the first flight of the day has been difficult. I have found that if I choke it with the ignition off one flip then turn the ignition on it will start sometimes but most of the time it just runs long enough to burn the "choke prime " and it will not continue to run.

I have several other gas engine in other models that I have not had any of these problems with . I am starting to think that their is something wrong with the carb.

Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

THANKS,

Rick

Rick,
Was the carb removed and taken apart?
Check that the diaphram "tit" is engaged into the metering fork. The L should be approx 1-1/4 and the H shoukld be approx 1-3/4....
Change the ignition battery to a good strong NiCad as a doagnostic.
Keep me posted.
Thanks,

Mike,

Carb has not been removed or taken apart. The ignition battery is fine . It has been cycled several times and load test fine after several flights. The needles are very close to what you recommend L is approx. 1 3/8 and the high is just under 2.

THANKS,

Rick
