man im so sorry this is why ive enver bothered doing it myself here is where i got all the info ok?? the gear ratio i got it from traxxas.com

http://www.traxxas.com/products/nitro/jato33/trx_jato33_specs.htm

here is where i got the number of teeth on pinion and diff crown

http://cgi.ebay.com/Traxxas-Diff-Gear-Side-Cvr-Gasket-Output-Gear-Seal-Jato_W0QQitemZ280146002630QQihZ018QQcategoryZ44028QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem

and here is where i got the number of teeth for the second gear

http://cgi.ebay.com/Traxxas-5585-2-Speed-Gear-Set-Jato_W0QQitemZ200122469440QQihZ010QQcategoryZ44028QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem

From the manual...

Using this info I extrapolate a ratio past the ring and pinion of 3.25......

so you pinion and spur yield a overall ratio of 1.46 * 3.25 = 4.745

Ok, this makes sense to me.
4x3.14 = 12.56inches...

3.25 * 1.46

43000/4.745 = 9062.17rpm

12.56 * 9062.17 = 113820.86inchs per minute...

113820.86/12 = 9485.07 feet per minute..

9485.07 * 60 = 569104.3 feet per hour...

569104.3/5280 = 107.785mph..........

but how do u caculate the pinion gear on the clutch and the spur gear???

the stock clutch bell is 22 teeth but the teeth have a 0.8 pitch while the 26 im running is 1.0 pitch

looking at the diffrence in size from a few clutck bells i have a size 20t bell with a 0.8 pitch is about the siem diamter as a 16t 1.0 pitch gear

I took 7.96/(54/22) = 8.25/(56/22) = 8.54/(58/22) = 3.24~3.25.

Gear pitch do not effect the ratio.

YES!!!!

Now that seems more feasible....lol...i've had figures ranging from 60-near 200!!!

Yes as yer man says the actual pitch of the gear will not affect the ratio...it's the ammount of teeth!

Ha it's not only wind resistance....also drivetrain losses. Our theory here counts for very little really....but it's nice to know.

Personally i would guesstimate you'll see a diifference of 10-20%....every car will be different....at least with your current ratio you wont run out of gears! It'll be aerodynamics and the lack of torque holding you back.

ill take a guess that with all the other factors the top speed will range from 65mph-80mph (thats kinda high though)

if the motor cant push it threw the wind i can always borow a novarossi 528 from one of my other cars 40,000 rpm

my guess top speed will be somewhere between 80 and 90 mph
