Well, first you should work an helping it to lose weight. Get a carbon chassis, lightweight wheels and tires, etc. Then put an insane engine in...like this one... http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/cPath/1_23_79/products_id/3246

It even comes with a rotostart backplate. [;)] Make sure you get the drivetrain upgrades or that motor will just eat your drivetrain on the first run. All in all, what $500? maybe $600? It would be crazzy fast though. [:D] Before you do all that, though, get a receiver pack (rechargable battery to replace the 4 AAs), get a better radio (if it's the RTR one) and better servos. These are always the first upgrades to do to an RTR.

For about $140 you can get a lot mor speed by buying an STS 30 but still theres nothing better than the high dollar novarossi posted above. The STS is from what I hear no joke either and thats why Im getting one.

Here's a taste of a modded STS 30 in a Savage; http://video.google.ca/videoplay?docid=-1678297284940363929&q=sts+30&total=102&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=4

Keep in mind if you want to make a really fast Savage, it will not be as offroad worthy anymore once you do the mods. This is what I suggest you do to make a really fast Savage:

You will have to lower the whole thing, bring the CG so low that the lower A-arms are parallel to the ground.

Get on-road tires for your custome Savage.

Get a 3speed transmission to gain a 10% better top gear.

Get very high gear ratios, if reality try get custom gear ratios, something like 24T CB and a 46T (or less) spur.

To turn the very high gear ratios, no single engine can do it and also turn 35000+ RPM. You will have to get a dual engine Savage kit. I suggest you get the Hot Bodies TwinZilla kit without the .26ci engines. Look on online auctions to find the twin engine kit without the engines, the HB .26 engines arent as good as the STS D28M or D30M. The twinzilla kit does not require anmods to mount modern nitro engines. Do not get the New Era Models twin engine kit, you will have serious CB and spur clearance problems.

Now, for the engines. To really get sick power to run your twin engine roadster, get two really powerful engines, like 2 STS D30Ms, 2 LRP Spec3's etc.

All these mods will give you a very fast Savage, acceleration wise and top end speed wise. But as for handling and turning, this Savage will not be very good. It will be very heavy too.

make it as light as possible and then stick a rapid motor in it... savages are really designed for speed truggy's and buggies are...

They are all correct.
If you want to go fast, get an on road car.

If you want it just to go quicker, then there are a number of mods you can do.
Unsprung weight, (wheels and tires) are going to put the most drag on it.
But you lose the off road capability.
I have a 28 motor in mine, and a 3 speed, and it goes really good, but not even close to my on road cars.

No one vehicle will ever do it all.

And there is a saying in racing, Speed=$
How fast do you want to go?
