I am starting a new SPAD. This will be my first gas engine. I choose the zenoah 26cc.
Since i can't find large pipe for the fuselage i decided to use plywood to build the engine support in the fuselage. Also i have no coroplast as long as 56 inches, the only lenght we have here is around 32 inches. Thus is will use two piece of coros and i will join them with carbon or fiber.

I will post pictures tomorrow i think with the first pieces of the fuselage.

Also the replace the gutter pipe with plywood for building the engine support.

More pictures to come.

Awesome! I planning on building one of these soon as well. I will be using a 45cc Thor engine though as I like a little bit of a lopsided power to weight. I want my Ultra Spadstick to hover!

Some picture of a very usefull tool. I did it to create aileron by removing upper flute.
I use it to bend more easily the fuselage around the engine support made of plywood. I can remove flute in one movement, it is clear and clean.

Milcent, what is the white material in the engine box (firewall) and can you post side shot of the fuselage?
Thanks

Hello flybug,
the white material is a cut board used in the kitchen to cut meat or vegetables. it is 1cm thick and i will use to piece of it to do the firewall. It will be in the plywood box and screwed to it.
Here are some shots of the fuselage side shots. Is it ok ?

Milcent, many thanks for the pics, clever idea to use that cutting board . Your project is looking very good by the way.

Edit: I like the way you joined the coro towards the end of the fuse, almost seemless

What is the thickness of the plywood your using for firewall mount and doubler? Looking good, mine came in tail heavy with Ryobi ,17.5#

nice . that is a variation af a standard SPAD tool usually seen as a pulled rig and it makes some difference which way the blade bevels are set. but I can see that using it as a pushed tool would be fine. I keep giving mine to newbys! a piece of sanded yard stick works great too.

I like to remove the bottom of a flute. The ones with the top cutout
just more dust.

Mine only get dusty after a crash. They are really dusty or Boken, needing a bandaid.
