What do you think is the best radio and manufacturer of Radio equipment, with best features?

I think Futaba is the best with the ease of programming, and features, and the quality of the radio in itself. I just ordered the 9CA radio, after using the 6XA for the last couple of years.

I have a JR 8103 and it beats the rest hands down, up until the 9channel and up sizes, they all get pretty common then, large screens, easy to read and program, and look great! I played with a 10X last week, very easy to use!! I have had futaba and airtonics, nothing worse than trying to remember what model number each plane is, use a name!!! Seen people get mixed up on which number there plane is and have lots of trouble!! Keep in mind this is only My opinion!! After 14 years of flying.

I agree with the fact you should be able to name your model, but if you compare the fut 6xa to the Jr 652, the 6XA wins hands down even though you cant name your model on the 6XA. The JR652 doesnt even have expo on the rudder. Now when you compare the 9CA to the 8103, the 9CA wins handsdown there again. Daz...

So far Futaba is #1 in the poll!!!

MULTIPLEX !!!
Started about 20 yrs ago with a Combi 80, then a Royal mc. Left the hobby until 2 yrs ago, restarted with a Cockpit MM, recently switched to a profi mc3030. Never had any trouble whatsover, so I think I'm gonna stick with MPX.

i've always used JR/Graupner, never got into that futaba thing it scares me that you can switch channels in the futaba tx so easy, wonder how many planes or helis came down that way?

now with a JR 10SX II, before that Graupner MC 20 (I really miss my switch on the stick !)

So: JR !!

LOL I hate following the guy next door syndrome. I fly Airtronics (Stylist, RD-6000 and 11 other Airtronics radios) Servo's doesn't matter as I can use any of the produced servo's from virtually any manufacturer. Maybe with a minor mod but they are all usable.
Haven't tried Multiplex but have seen good reviews. Since I'm or have been a computer nut since my first Timex Sinclair I prefer speed and with the Stylist it offers the fastest PCM 1024 on the market. Everybody has Futaba and JR mostly I just can't see following the crowd! They only have a better Promotional/Advertising section not a better piece of equipment.

I'm not brand loyal at all. Being now on 50MHz renders the shift compatiblity a non-issue for me. Have owned Airtronics, Futaba and Hitec and they've all been excellent. I honestly don't see what the fuss is all about one brand being soooo much better than the others. I will buy any brand if I think it is better all around: price, features, programmability, ergonomics, availability, selection, and support.

For me for now, my favorite is Futaba 9C.

My LHS stocks JR's, lots of new guys have JR's. I went in and ordered my 9C from the LHS. All of the guys at the field wanted to see my 9C and were amassed at my 8 character model naming. How easy I got to the settings on each model. One new guy got a 8103 before he new how to fly. Several flyers tried to help this poor soul program his radio with the instructions. I had a 8UAF before my 9C and you could name your model with 6 characters and what a simple design to program the 8UAF. The 9C is easier. JR needs to do a lots of work to catch-up.

dazzler:
a quote from futaba: And for the ultimate in convenience, there are synthesized versions of both radios (9ZAS and 9ZHS) that allow you to fly on any 72MHz frequency -- without changing modules.
i apologize, i was not clear about that.
further more if you switch on the TX and you forgot what channnel you are on, you might bring someone else down.
i do not know exactly how that channel switching works (since i do not have futaba) but i kind a worries me...

i forgot to mention: i think my JR 10sxII is real easy to program. and they had the 16 character model name 4 years ago (or longer) . i also enjoy having 10 channels.
as for brand versus non brand i would believe that JR/Futaba has more resources to develop and design products. but i am not sure about that and we could discuss that back and forth for ever...

What about Graupner?

The Txs with most features and open programming are the Multiplex and Graupner. At current prices in the UK, Multiplex offers far and away the most power per price. Mpx offers channel check to prevent shooting someone down, pity the Futaba synthesiser doesn't have that eh! Current top dogs in Tx are the Mpx 4000 or Graupner MC24, though the new Mpx Royal Evo will take top slot when it gets to the shops.

My LHS sells more Mpx than it sells Futaba 8/9 and JR3810 put together. Like me, all the Mpx buyers are ex-Futaba/ex-JR users but we have yet to meet a Futaba/JR user who has given up Mpx!

it seems to be quite hard to get graupner tx in the states and 72 MHz with it. i did love my mc-20 ! it was a tough switch to change over to JR. even though graupner/jr are kind of the same company, they are not...

@flmgrip :
I think thats because Graupner TX's are basically JR's, JR makes them for Graupner. On the other hand Graupner is the distribuitor for JR in Germany, so they probably don't push the Graupner TX's very much over here, to avoid "in-house competition"
