THE ENGINE THAT I USED WAS A 91OS WITH A ULTRA THRUST MUFFLER. THATS A MUST IF YOU WANT TO HAVE TOP PERFORMANCE ON THIS PLANE(IM TALKING ABOUT THE MUFFLER) I USED a 12X7 AND A 12X8 PROP. I FOUND THE 12X7 HAD A BETTTER WAY OF SLOWING DOWN THE PLANE FOR LANDING. IF THERE IS NO WIND WHILE LANDING THE PLANE DOES NOT SLOW DOWN EASILY. A LITTLE WIND HELPS ON THE APPROACH. ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS IS U MUST BEEF UP THE LANDING GEAR BEFORE YOU FLY. YOU NEED TO HAVE GOOD THROTLE MANAGEMENT ON LANDING BUT OVERALL ITS A PRETTY EASY PLANE TO LAND AS LONG AS YOU DONT COME TOO SLOW CUZ IT WILL WOBBLE ON YOU IF YOU ARE TOO SLOW. ONE OF MY FAVORITE MANEUVERS WAS BRINGING THE PLANEOVER THE RUNWAY ABOUT FIVE FEET FROM THE RUNWAY AND PULL HARD UP ELEVATOR. THE PLANE WOULD CLIMB VERTICALLY LOOKING THE KENEDY SPACE SHUTTLE. THERE WAS NO CRACKS OR ANYTHING ON THE PLANE BUT UNFORTUNATELY IT DISSINTEGRATED IN THE AIR. SO INT HE NEXT ONE I BUIILD I WILL BEEF UP WITH SIX OUNCE CLOTH STRIPS THE FORMERS UNDER THE COCK PIT.

Does anyone have any idea what the size of the front landing gear wire is. I called Cermark to get one and they asked for my phone number and said they'd call me back to check stock. ****? Get off your fat A$$ and go look, I'll wait! ARGHHHHH! I'm about to order an OLEO strut and a new front retract from someone else.

Hey thanks, in fact you are correct. I cut up a H9 P-51 PTS gear to the length I needed and it works great. Only thing is it doesn't have the flexability that the oem gear has because of the curl in the wire. But that's where my oem wire snapped. It was a jagged break which means it was weak there because of the bend anyway. Thinking of selling my Jett 90 and my F-18 . I' really wanting to get an EDF but money is tight. But that may also keep me from the very project I want to do.

Attention ALL Cermark F-18 owners!

BACK WEN MY PLANE WAS NEW apparently due to a loose stab aluminum control horn. After 4 or 5 flights one of the horns (that are only held in check by screw pressure on the stab rod) was either hit and moved position or simply loosened up on its own enough to cause pure havoc! The enclosed video shows the effect and a near fatal take off. I DID LAND SAFE. LOOK AT THE END OF THE VIDEO...THE PLANE GOT INVERTED AND WAS DROPING FAST.....DON'T ASK ME HOW I SAVE IT...

SOLUTION IS EASY:

YOU SHOULD DRILL A SMALL HOLE THROUGH THE ALUMINUM HORNS RIGHT INTO THE ALUMINUM RODS- THEN SECURE IT WITH A SET SCREW TO LOCK IN THE HORN AND ROD... THEY WILL NEVER SLIP AGAIN. THIS SHOULD BE MANDITORY FOR THIS PLANE.

Hi Guys

Just bought me an F18 yesterday.
Have gone throught the other threads already and just startin gon this one, so I hope Im not repeating, but I urgently need to know if the retract set for thre F16 and the f18 are the same.
The mounts and angles look precisely the same but Cermark said they weren't?

Has anyone tried to swop them between planes or have both here?

Thanks

Rob

i know this may seem like a stupid question but im going to ask any way what if any were your thoughts of puting say a ys 4sroke in this plane i know there r issues with prop clearance but i could just use alot of pitch instead is it possible or ethical to try this

also i think if it could hold the vibration i could put a saito 100 to try with a 12x12 prop the only reason i would like to try the saito is because i have one and imo the black and gold engine would complement the planes color well if a four stroke works then i may opt to buy a ys and see what kind of performance is possible why couldent we just use the next size up wheels on the nose to eas prop clearance and help roll out on take off as well

Robert, they are the same except for the F-16 front wire is shorter than the F-18 due to it's mounted lower in the air scoop. Hope this helps.

2 maiden of the Cermark f-18. Both behaved the same and are impressive when flying. Nice prop jet. Only one flight with it. The common thing is that we both broke a rail on the main landing gear. The runway is grass. I noticed that the mounting blocks are not glued and held in place only by pressure between the front and back former. the mounting blocks are also made from weak ply that crack like a kit kat. I removed the existing intact mounting block and used it as a guide to rebuild them from good quality "SIG" 1/4 inch ply. You feel the difference in your hands. The formers seem also weak. I will install some brace between the mounting blocks and the wing tube to absorb the weight and shock of eventual hard landing to protect the fuselage and reduce the stress on the formers.

Flaperons are not a good idea on this plane...plane gets out of control.
