Tatoo - will your new QHOR (aka - Awesome - HOR ) knife edge? I was hoping that with the profile style fuse that it might be a possibility, pending on its rigidity.
And, how did you fasten the profile fuse to the top of the wing? I believe that you said that you cut the fuse out after you positioned the wing to the aluminum fuse (back bone).
I am thinking of doing a 'AWE-HOR' with individual aileron servos (probably Hitec 225's, so I can play with mixing), and counter balanced rudder and elevator. This is way I am asking these questions. Also, where are you finding the PVC gutter pipe. I've checked my local sources (ACE hardware, Lowes, Home Depot) without any luck.
Thanks!
Kevin

Hacker - I think that I am one thread behind you!
I need gutter pipe to make about 10 PBFs, and 10 QHORs. I think my club has finally got the bug - PBF bug! I would like to see it turn into a SPAD BUG! . Don't worry Hacker, I'll find it someplace! Thanks anyways! Meantime, I've been using the conventional control horns. They work just fine. I just have a couple of more bucks, literally, in my PBF (Though reuseable on the next SPAD )

Woodman - I like it! I really like the way you mounted your fuel tank too - conventional profile method. This gets the fuel pick-up more in line with the carb! Nice job! I think I am going to starting drawing up my tail feathers & fuse tonight on CAD.

Hey thanks Kevin. Yeah I have been through the flooded engine stage with my past combat planes. The engine mount er.... cutting board poly stuff sticks out just far enough to catch the tank. I used a very small cup hook screwed into the poly motor mount and secured it with rubberbands.

I think on my next HOR I will split the elevator and use a y-yoke pushrod with individual horns on each half of the elevator. Then I will extend the rudder down past the elevator with a skeg on the bottom. Maybe this will help with the knife edge performance. I had a lot of coupling with my plane. It knife edged like my old retired wasp....

Woodman - I was thinking of mounting the elevator servo on its side on the underside of the aluminum rail so that I can set-up a Pull-Pull on both the rudder and elevator. I do plan on incorporating a wire skid in the tail to semi-protect the elevator servo on the bottom. I am debating on staggering the tail surfaces. I probably start-off semi-stk set-up (over-sized surfaces, of course ). I printed out the TACO II's profile fuse from Paul's plans. I will probably use it for the profile fuse to start-off with.
As far as the coupling in the knifed edge, that doesn't bother me, as long as it knifed edges, that's fine!

Mine tries to knife edge, but I don't think it's the aircraft's fault it rolls out...I'd blame the pilot's brain for failure to be able to turn left while flying sideways and feed ailerons at the same time...Yahoooo! But I'm starting to get the hang of it and I think the plane can do it...man I'm having a blast with this!

Oh yeah, and as an addition to the existing QHOR plans, I did up a few pages for the Profile QHOR (PQHOR) if anyone is interested
